I was wondering what people mean by "until it gels". Does it mean you experience a trance-like state where you seem to know everything about the book or a chapter of the book?

It was my first time PRing a book. So I did the first 3 steps, incubated for 24 hrs, then activated the first 45-page chapter. After activation (supper read, dip, skitter, mind map) for an hour, it seems like I know the chapter by 75%. I have not super red yet. Does this qualify as "gel"?

Btw, I have regular red the book before but I didn't remember much out of the regular read. Maybe about 10%. Before, it might take me about 3 hours to read the chapter, with a not-very-good comprehension. Now, I remember and comprehend the chapter better with PR than regular read.

Just rephrasing: When the things that you super read/dip/skitter become repetitive to you, as if you feel that when you go through them, you feel you have fully comprehended the material consciously, that is "gel"?

not the process, but the materal itself becomes repetitive like when you get that feeling of that you have read that before

The material has gelled for you when you have achieved your purpose. Gelling is different for different people and for different purposes.

I don't know about gelling, I've never had anything profound enough to amaze me in PR.

But, after PRing on some occasion, I leave with the impression that all the info is swimming in my mind somewhere, and its interesting. I can "feel" the contents in my mind. My friend, who I introduced PR to, could testify on this too. If I could get my mind still enough, I'd probably be able to retrieve the stuff.

Gel for a beginner is to have the same level of understanding that you would have from traditional slow reading. A beginner using PhotoReading will have that level of understanding in about 1/3rd the time it takes to traditionally read. When you've done that the book has gelled.

For the more experienced PhotoReader Gel is the point where the book has served it's purpose.
