Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer Emphasis on Individual Words

I was wondering how much emphasis a photoreader should put on each individual word, especially when it comes to superreading. I notice that when I do, I have a choice to zoom in on words that catch my attention, but those are merely single words that may or may not have a useful context to my purpose. Otherwise, I can superread with little expectation on what I should be looking for, not consciously looking for any particular word, and then I get these urges to read certain parts of the text. At least this makes me feel like I'm working with my subconscious mind more.

But another question slightly related is, when you rapidread, do you try to eat up all the words thoroughly or blaze through in a rather nonchalant manner? I'm experimenting, and think I'm getting close to what's comfortable. Perhaps it's different for each book I read? :/

Read for meaning. Trying to read each single word is going to slow you down to passive reading. You've already PhotoRead them so you've already got them. Superreading and dipping is to help you satisfy the conscious mind. One word is enough to find what is important.

Rapid Reading speed varies. Sometimes you'll be reading almost as slow as you old passive reading speed and other times you'll be pushing beyond Superreading. It all depend on what you want to know and how much you already know.

thanks for the response, that was a good answer, actually. A part of me thought it was about meaning, not every little word, which is what speed reading courses emphasize, and I'm somewhat angry about that. I did realize that it slowed me down, but wondered if I would lose comprehension by regarding them less. Anyway, my purpose will determine how fast I'll go each time.
