I manage to enter photofocus easy but the challenge is How do I maintain the blip page.what is the soft gaze? and after I find the blip page to I remain focused on it as I turn the pages. Is the X tech. a alternative to the blip page are they both equally effective.

I have a question along the same lines...I am a beginning photoreader (I have been trying it for a few days, with a physics textbook and The Metamorphosis...no tangible results thus far). In order to maintain photofocus, I have been placing a noticeable object (such as a brush, a large dictionary, etc.) at a distance away from me, then focusing on that and directing my peripheral vision to the book at hand...at this point I can see all four corners of the book (though it is blurry), but sometimes I lose the blip page. It can usually be regained easily enough, but it breaks my concentration...probably my biggest problem right now is maintaining a good learning state while photoreading; my mind seems to wander or think about my progress/how I am doing (thoughts like "make sure you're seeing the blip page and looking at the whitespace")...I also need to work on activation. Anyway, any tips any one has for me as well would be appreciated. Thanks! -Daniel

P.S. I am a high school senior, I will be taking Advanced Placement exams soon and am hoping to use this along with mindmapping to study so I would really like to learn how to photoread...I will be on two long trips before I take the tests so I have plenty of time to keep trying. I definitely want to have this technique developed before going to college, and I'll keep you guys posted with my questions and progress. Thanks again.

Hi!

You do not need to maintain the blip.

To make things easy for you.

Keep the four corners of the book in your field of vision & notice the whiteness of the pages. You can also do a imaginary X.

Thoughts like am I doing this right, Can I see the blip page, oh no my mind wondered off there now I won't be able to activate are all positive self talk. Positive in the sense you're going to get what ever you expect.

Say the chant to keep the conscious mind busy. If the mind wanders off, it's ok just bring it back to the chant as soon as you noticed. Just a a boat will shift off course further since it doesn't have marked lanes it can still be turned back in the right direction and it keeps going.

Remember to learn the system on a couple of non-fiction books that interest you first. Not textbooks or school books. Make it easy for yourself to learn PhotoReading.
