I thought I might share this although it isn't qi gong it is about working with and being persistence it when dealing with pain.

A couple of years ago a firend of mind had a major relapse of a back problem. He constantly complained of back pain when I first met him. It flaired up in December when his wife told him that she was moving the kids some 800 miles away. From then on it got progressively worse. In fact by March he was unable to drive himself to work and I had to order him to get a cane. He refused to take time off work.

In May he happened to be with me when he my mum mentioned she had some x-rays of her back. He looked at it and immediately could tell that my mother would be suffering pain much worse that his. Not only was there very little cartilage left, a couple of her lower bones were more or less rubbed down so they looked fuse. Not only does my mum have problems with the back there is also no cartilage left in her shoulders. Yet my mum keeps going. Odd thing was she never complained about the pain.

The funny thing is after seeing the x-ray he started complaining less of his pain it cleared up by June and now 3 years later he no longer has back problems.

A couple of weeks ago I spent time with my mum she was limping and it got progressively worse as the day wore on. I told her that I could see that it was worse and she just shrugged and said, "I thought it would be better by now." One day my mum may learn qi gong. Right now she is more interested in doing what she has been doing to keep the problems in check. As for me doing healing on her... no, that has been something that she prefers to take care of herself.

Mostly my mother is a demonstration to me to keep at it... some things take time to work through but if you stick with one thing you will see the benefits.
So no matter what we experience with qi gong, it's probably right for us just enough for us to take notice and if there isn't anything to notice to just enjoy the time we spend for ourselves.
