Hi,
I third that.
- Keeping your tongue up and connected, helps with avoiding injury, when venturing into other physical realms of exercise.
- Try not to hold the feeling of being muscular, or buff. Focus on relaxing, in terms of how you carry yourself, after you pump up. Then think of overall balance, again, relaxing in your qigong practice. Strength training can be very good, as long as you don't close up from the strength training, locked in the feeling your muscles deal. You gain from the strength work, then relax. You can summon up the muscular investment/strength , whenever you want, from a relaxed state. Really relaxing, provides the contrast, to find balance, and walk a balanced middle ground.
-somewhat as shr33m says, many Chinese martial systems utilize an aspect of weight training, or exercise focusing on the muscles. It is, part of a balanced complete program though, involving the other half,,,relaxing the muscles.
