Hi, this might sound a bit daft but I would appreciate an answer. I read you shouldn't take a bath straight after doing SFQ. I can understand that this would drain the chi. However does this also apply to a shower? I would have thought it might be different as a shower wouldn't be so draining.Trying to fit SFQ in of an evening means working around meals etc and the time is often limited.
Also when talking about doing an hour of Qigong could this be a half hour of active exercises and a half hour of small universe or is it an hour of just the active exercises? Once again time limits what one can fit in.
Thanks for your help. This forum is a great source of knowledge from which I have learnt a lot from so many of you.Thank you.
Love Sandy (ozzie)

Hi ozzie. The duration, type and timing of SFQ practice all follow the good, better, best model. Master Lin gives us the best practices to follow, but doing any is good.

First a shower is the same as a bath.

If you can do SFQ meditation, that is good. If you can wait 10 minutes before showering that is better. Waiting a half hour is best. I personally plan on 20 minutes for morning active exercise, but sometimes it's only 10 minutes.

The idea is that the longer you wait after the exercise the longer the flow of qi that you setup in your meditations will last. The 30 minutes is probably related to the time for a complete cycle of qi in your body.

You can mix your time for active and sitting meditations. Probably best to do the active first. Work on your yang then your yin. Clear your system then build capacity.

Also the 5:00 - 7:00 (am and pm) windows are the best time for active meditations, but it's good to do them at any time you have available. Same hold for the noon and midnight periods for sitting meditations.

You are perfection.

Thank you Iam2 for answering so quickly.I think I'll have to re-arrange my mornings and evenings to fit it all in. I guess like you said 10 mins is better than not doing it at all.
Your comment about a half hour being the time for the chi to cycle makes sense.
Thanks again. Love Sandy
