I have had chronic pain for about 6 months now. I have seen umpteen doctors and had a whole bunch of tests done. They can find nothing. But I have all of the symptoms of fibromyalgia but the doctors wont diagnose me. I feel like I am screaming at the top of my lungs and no one will listen to me. I am sooo frutrated. and now they dont even want to give me pain meds to help. I feel like all the doctors are looking at me like I am lieing because i want pain pills. But let me tell you if i could wake up tomarow and never hurt again I would never take another pain pill. but i dont think that is going to happen any time soon.does anyone have any advice I have done alot of research on fibromyalgia and all my symptoms point in that dirrection but how do i get started on the process of healing. Also another question. Has anyone experianced pain durring intrcourse ( other than hip pain) I mean pain with the actuall intercourse its self ( this is kinda embarassing). I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Amber,
My wife has had Fybromialgia for 8 years and we can both sympathise with your frustration. She fortunatley had a GP that knew enough to refer her to a rheumatologist who diagnosed her . She did, however, go through the same issues with pain management. Doctors are scared to death to prescribe pain meds. on a regular basis. My wife eventually found a pain specialist and he has changed her life.

She is now practicing qigong and we are hopeful that his will help as well. Our sugestion to you is to seek out a pain clinic . These doctors treat peole every day with chronic pain.

Best wishes and we will post updated as my wife's condition improves through her practice of Qigong.

Dear Amber:

Amazing things are being done for people with fibromyalgia in the realm of pain control and management through hypnosis. Not only can you get control of the pain, you can also explore for any underlying causes of it, as one of the reasons doctors are so fearful of treating fibromyalgia is they really have a problem finding any underlying cause. Anxiety and stress are generally involved, either as contributing factors, or extenuating from the discomfort - on both accounts, hypnosis can bring a lot of relief.

Sometimes we get into a painful situation (either physically or emotionally), and long after the "real" pain should have gone away, our brains continue to send out the signals that there is still pain there, and many times it isn't there at all, or it is there only minimally - just enough to warn us to be careful.

So along with the pain management clinic, I'd like to suggest you seek out a hypnotist who has been specifically trained in pain control and management (which is a specialized certification) to see if you could get some relief that way.

Cheers!
Unis

Thank you very much for your responses, RodB, I have contacted a pain clinic but they are completly booked until december, and I am also schedualed for a breast reduction in December to try and alleviate some pressure off of my already painfull back. I read that one of the trigger points for Fibromyalgia is the spine and neck. That is where my pain started and still hurts to the touch unless I have pain meds in me. Is that where your wifes pain originated? Also I know it is kind of a personal question but did your wife have pain durring intercourse. All of a sudden my husband and i arent able to have it any longer because it hurts to much. I would really appreciate some imput on this situation even though i know it is a very personal question. I would just like to find out if they are one in the same problem.

Thank You Very Much
Amber

Qigong is what this discussion forum is about. I assumed your practice it since you are here.
This link will tell you more about it: www.springforestqigong.com

My wife has a lot of joint pain, like having the flu all the time, and trigger point pain. Pain in the trigger points is generally how doctors diagnose Fibromyalgia. She did not experience the other "personal pain" you mention.

If you search for fibromyalgia, on the forum, you will find a couple of threads on the topic. I had expected to find more actually.

I believe that the course material has some testimonial for a person who suffered from it, as does Master Lin's book Born a Healer.

You are perfection.

Amber, look at the information at www.emofree.com, where Gary Craig presents a tapping technique that may help you. Although I am new to Qigong, I know enough about it to believe that the EFT tapping technique, which focuses on acupuncture meridians and has produced some amazing results, appears to be compatible with Qigong. Best wishes.

Amber, I have the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. When I told the doctor how and where I hurt, he immediately told me that's what it was, and he said I had heavy metal toxicity because that's what causes it. He said the Fibromyalgia is triggered by a physical trauma. (I had had two serious falls with injury before any symptoms began.) He ordered blood, urine and fecal tests, and all came back with extremely high levels of lead and two other metals, plus high levels of others. I'm undergoing chelation now. I had all but stopped SPQ--beats me why--and now I am doing it again. It had made such a difference in how I felt mentally and physically. Contact me off line if you like.

Since you all are talking about fybro..., you may want to check out the following page and read Donna's story (on the left blue column). She talks about her experience. http://www.learningstrategies.com/qigong/Intro3.html
