I was honored approximately three months ago with an introduction to Master Chunyi Lin and his miraculous Spring Forest Qigong, through a referral by the Centerpointe Research Institute. With little hesitation, I accepted the opportunity to purchase the first two levels of study. I have graciously practiced 6-7 days per week, Level 1 for 8 weeks and Level two for approximately 3 weeks. Each session brings with it a certain excitement and renewed ease.

In my chiropractic practice, I utilize two gentle loving protocols (Network Chiropractic/ Spinal Analysis and CranioSacral Therapy), which are non-symptomatically oriented. Each form of care emphasizes bringing ease to an individual’s nervous system’s meningeal mechanical cord tensions -- necessity for optimal performance of each of our life processes. The meninges are supportive and nutritive soft tissues of the brain and spinal cord.

Network practitioners recognize that, as each spine releases its meningeal tensions, large and small spinal muscles gently activate creating a remarkable phenomenon, called the somatopsychic wave. These energetic waves produce subtle and less than subtle body motions, synchronous to the response of the brain and spinal cord, both acting as unified dissipative structures.

While practicing Spring Forest Qigong during the last 2 weeks or so, I noticed subtle tendencies for my body to pull and shift – a much similar response to receiving Network care. So far, the areas most affected are within the pelvis, femur heads (hips) and knees. My arms and shoulders have developed their own rhythms and motions, guiding the flow within the active exercises.

Each motion appears to be highly specific and directed, and my sense is to allow the spine and pelvis to “go with the flow”. What is the present opinion regarding these gentle rhythms, should the practitioner allow his/her body to follow its course or rather restrict its unconscious attempts?

Frequently, each active exercise also appears to have energetic flows and resulting muscular tensions that develop and set up the next or successive exercise. For example, while holding the initial few moments of stance during Forming of Yin and Yang, tensions are felt that predispose the posture to shift into the circular vertical ascending and descending movements of the hands and arms, found during Moving of Yin and Yang. Breathing of the Universe movements appear to prepare the body energetics for Joining Yin and Yang, which then melds into Harmony of the Universe, by creating a mild twist and elongation of the hands and arms. During Harmony, the electromagnetics of the initial flow seems more in tune with movement to one direction, as apposed to the other. If I may say, at this point in my practice, the Seven Steps of New Life appears to create less body awareness, other than I frequently find myself unaware of which Step is to follow (truly entering ‘Emptiness’

I would like to thank those souls who have put their hearts into maintaining this special Forum. You have done a wonderful job.

Hello Joseph

You seem to be very sensitive and in tune with your body which is terrific and through the work that you do this is probably to be expected.

Your explanation of what seems to be happening through each of the exercises is very accurate as to how it happens for me as well.

There is much magic in the subtle tendencies you are feeling in your body while practising SFQ - please go with them and don't try to restrict them in any way. They are definitely highly specific as you say and this is the perfect way to realign your body as it's meant to be - it's being done for you and by you through the flow of Qi.

I have been practising SFQ for almost three years now and the continuing unfolding of its immense power never ceases to amaze me.

(I earlier posted this 'thank you', however I do not see its representation. If my first attempt pops up here or elsewhere, please forgive my redundancy. --Joe)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you, JETAY, for your words of confirmation and guidance.
Several years ago, for two years, I studied Chi Kung with a well educated and trained local Martial Arts instructor (post-Viet Nam trained, while in the East). My daily session was 1 to 1 1/2 hours. In those two years, I do not recall sensing such a continuous flow. The methods uses were the same taught to his students of the combative arts.
I am curious. Have you ever noticed shifting tensions within the cranial segments and TMJ (jaw joint), during a rest period, following the active exercises? Remarkably, I am feeling similar sensations following the Sitting Meditations.
Thanks again.
Love and Peace,
Joe
Hi Joe
Yes - I get shifting tensions in the areas you talk about when resting. Sometimes they can be painful for a little while as the blockage is released - especially in the jaw area and for me I've had a lot of work happen in my neck over time as well. Stay with it and don't stop the sensations because healing is happening.
I know when I was first doing SFQ, I used to get a lot of movement like rocking when I was doing a sitting meditation and my body used to move into positions that were for me, quite impossible to achieve normally. For example - my head on the ground in front of my left knee - and the qi would hold me there for several minutes while the blockages in my spine and sacrum were releasing. I used to get afraid and think that I'd never be able to get back up and so I'd stop the process by sitting up - it would hurt. However, once I trusted the process, when the work was done, the body would gently raise on its own and there would be a wonderful sensation of freedom and openness within the body.
A lot of sensation occurs within me just about all of the time now - it can be through alignment or it can be through opening of minute channels on my face, around my mouth and nose, in and around my head, through my legs, back and torso. I feel very alive!
I can also waken from sleep to find that I'm having a spontaneous session of Qi Gong with or without any external movement or my conscious participation - quite a wonderful feeling.
SFQ is remarkable so enjoy!
