I have just started the level 1 home course and was wondering if anyone had experienced any kind of weight loss that Chunyi speaks about.

My question is: he speaks about bending the legs for weight loss - is this for ALL of the active exercise which do not require one to move the legs, just standing??

Thanks.

Dear DR,

I beleive it's for all the exercises. Jim Nance also says you can stand with your legs spread wider instead. Chunyi also has a weight loss tape. He says he lost four inches from his waist when he started QiGong.

Hi Desert (hey, did you copy me?),

Yes, one of my friend told me about someone he knows who released/eliminated I think about 30 lbs in less than 2 months just by bending knees (a lot). Also, notice, I didn't say he LOST weight. You see, that is one of the many reasons why 95% people struggle to keep the weight they release. You cannot create or destroy energy. You can only transform energy from one form to another.

Now our brain thinks in terms of reference. If you say "I LOST my car keys," or "I LOST my wallet," your brain would go crazy saying "OH MY GOD - I need to get those back." We associate Losing something with a hope/wish to get it back. So you don't want to lose weight. You only need to tell your brain (while you maintain a healthy diet/exercise etc) that you want to release/donate some extra energy from your body which is stored in the form of excess fat/carb to nature so that it can be used for other good things.

Hi Desert Rose
Something else that helps excess weight to release is when you do the bouncing exercise before starting the active exercises which you do do with knees bent for most of the time as you say. (The exercise of bouncing is done with your feet flat on the ground, just bending and straightening the knees rythmically to get the bounce going). It's a great exercise to get the energy flowing.

What happens when you practice SFQ is that your body goes back to its normal weight and for some people that actually means putting on weight.

Love
Jetay

Hey, this makes a lot of sense to me. I have never thought about weight this way. Thanks for the insight.

I also spend a few moments in deep meditation visualizing myself at the weight I would like to be and I am finding that helpful.

Blessings

Good morning everyone! I love this forum! It has been so helpful to my qigong practice. In an earlier message on this same post someone (I can't remember who wrote it), wrote that Jim Nance said that you could take a wider stance and get the same weight lose effect as bending the knees. Can I get clarification on that? I know that Chun Li said that bending the knees help open up the channels around the waist and therefore the greater weight lose. Certainly, using a wider stance would take some stress of my back as I find the bent knees harder to work with.
I look forward to your replies.
Love and Peace,
Lorrie

I have been doing the wider stance and found it much easier on my back - but I am just wondering if the pain I was experiencing, were blockages beginning to become unblocked???

Also, someone mentioned a weight loss tape? I went on the website and could not find anything about it?

I am adding Udo's oil to my diet - DUH - totally forgot about my EFAs and the weight is coming off just nicely!--- along with the QGung of course!

Aloha Lburns99,

The wider "horse stance" still has it's knees bent.

Much Love, Shawn
