I seldom remember any of my dreams. However, I will sometimes make a request before going to sleep. I'll ask to dream of a solution or information to some problem or questioin, and to remember the dream. Then I'll often wake up in the early morning and remember my last dream.

Last night was one of these nights. Sometimes they are straight forward to understand. I knew that this was are response to my question, because I had asked someone to come and help me. He was in the dream.

For these harder to understand dreams, I go the high think tank way. I start describing the dream to myself. It can be out loud, written or just in my head. I don't strain to understand it. I keep my desire to understand resurfacing. Usually, it doesn't take too long and then Pop, I understand the imagery and the message that I've recieved.

With time, my understanding may change a little but it stays basically the same as the first spark of understanding.

No code book, but a process. I hope it can help you.

You are perfection.

For dreams alot of times it is like talking to someone who speaks a foreign language, you have to find a common useage and agreement. I find in my dreams that I remember are some message I am being told about to prepare for but it isn't always clear. As I look over the dream and find common things that I understand it becomes clear and the memories of the dream go away but the message comes through. I look into the small details that have meaning for me and it becomes clear. The dream is an intuition for me.

Write down your dream and free associate with significant parts of the dream. You dreamed of a friend, who does this friend remind you of, what do you like about them what don't you like. How do you feel about them.

One thing to notice is your emotional reaction at various points of a dream.

If you cannot intepret the dream don't worry about it the non conscious mind worked it out perfectly.

Dreams are the minds way of finishing up day to day business sometimes they will provide warning that your actions could get you into trouble. Never fear if you don't consciously understand the message the non conscious mind is aware you might find yourself wanting to mouth off at your boss and your dream has already worked out that the consequences of that could be immediate dismissial. Not worth it if your boss only needs to be aware of the fact that your co-worker isn't pulling his weight. In the dream the mind may have already worked out that your intention of giving your boss a piece of your mind will backfire. So when it comes to the crunch you may well find yourself not saying anything again but sensing it's for the best simply because your conscious mind hasn't gathered the meaning of the dream.

Best way to intepret is to ask your self what does this mean to you. So if the dream had a significant colour like Blue ask yourself what does blue mean to me. You will probably find the first answer that pops into your mind explains it. Like Blue ocean, calm, peace happy might be the associations for the word blue. Mother might be mum, best friend/worse enermy (depending on your relationship) happy spark, chirpy happy, strict... do it fast you will find that that the right answer comes up first. Sometimes the same word will bring up a positive/happy slant other times the negative/unhappy feelings about the word fire up. That's just pointing out the angle of your dream.

One neat technique I borrowed from the 7 step reframing NLP model.

Go through your dream multiple times from the perspective of multiple characters and elements and see what happens. You can ask yourself question like, "What do I want? What am I trying to do? Why? What do I fear? Who am I? What's going on here?"

I was once being chased down by a floating skull in a dream of mine, and I learned, through the technique, that it was trying to scare me for a reason.

It can be a very helpful thing to do. You can also go through the dream again in your imagination making it the way you want it to be now that you have the inside info on things.

tibetan dream yoga helped me some with this
you ask yourself during : the day am i awake? or dreaming?
and a few other things like that
before sleep you say a kindo of mantra (English so it does not have the power of Sanskrit or Hebrew)
and sleep on the right side for male left for female
u write down it in the morning
it is a great practice which i am getting into quite a bit
good luck with whatever you do
