I believe the healing energy in Qigong and Kundalini are the same. What do you know on this? I haven't pursued it.
Most people have different definitions of kundalini. In the West, it tends to be a watered-down version of the original esoteric practice by the yogis meaning something akin to "peak experience." Also, most writers mistakenly classify all subtle energies as being the same and many who write about kundalini have never experienced its true manifestation.
I prefer the definition as originally used to refer to the dormant energy (Shakti) lying at the base of the spine. It is necessary to clear the nadis and sushumna in the spine using advanced pranayama techniques to allow full unobstructed circulation before the kundalini is activated. Those who ignore these essential preliminaries put themselves at grave risk when activating the kundalini. Having activated the kundalini many times, I can attest to the necessity of proper preparation and I recommend the close guidance of a qualified teacher in person. It can be an extremely fearful and uncomfortable situation.
If the milder definition used in the West is being used here, then nevermind the cautionary notes. However, I wish the term kundalini was not used in such cases as it is misleading.
