Wave Rider,

I saw a hypnotherapist for about 3 months (1x/week). I admit that our sessions were scattered and the focus could have been better. I really enjoyed my sessions and would not hesitate to continue seeing a therapist.

To answer your questions, the biggest benefit I received was relaxation. I had gone on vacation and spent a week with a friend who ate very little. He'd "forget" about food. I envied that because I've never been one to forget eating. It's somewhat of a focus for me. We worked on taking away that focus and it worked for about a week and then I continued my normal patterns. I don't know if there was something I started doing differently or if it was not an effective way for me.

I have "Ideal Weight" which I've started to use again.

The biggest problem I have withe paraliminals is making the time for them. I know that must make the time if it's important. I have a tendency to use them right before bed and I fall asleep during them. Since I wake up as soon as the tape clicks off I know that my mind was aware of the tape and I didn't "lose" anything, but I don't think it's the most effective way for me to use the tapes.

Anyway, that's just my experience. I have often suggested hypnotherapy to friends and colleagues because I truly believe it is helpful. My wish is that I was able to afford hypnotherapy on a regular basis.
