Dear 42k1,
When you think about it, we're always creating new skin cells ,every seven days to be exact- so why do we maintain scars? Wouldn't the new cells be healthy and smooth?
From what I've read, it's because we hold onto the memory of the trauma, which programs the new cells to reproduce in a distorted fashion. The same holds for any other body part, like the liver, for example, why get a liver transplant, if you create a new liver every three months? It's because your consciousness hasn't changed in three months. The only body part that doesn't reproduce new cells, is the spinal cord - hence, the problems with paralysis. I read Serge King's book -Instant Healing - which has a technique where you rewrite history, to remove scars and other injuries from accidents. Basically, I went into an alpha state, sort of created a virtual reality of the skin I wanted, and it worked. I think the more senses you incorporate into the visualization, the more potent it is. So, I not only visualized the smooth skin, I heard people complimenting me on my beautiful skin, I "felt" men caressing my skin, etc. The key from what I've read is how you "feel" as you visualize. The more positive emotion you can attach to your image, the faster the results. Also, re:affirmations - you know how everyone says you should say them in the first person, present tense? Well, for some reason, that never worked for me. As soon as I started taking out the "I" and making whatever I wanted to change, the subject of the affirmation, I started to get results. For example - instead of, I, Rachel, have beautiful, flawless, skin, I would say - My skin is beautiful and flawless. I still haven't figured out exactly why, the "I" statements didn't work for me - maybe I have a hard time believing "I" can make the changes, but it's easier for me to make the changes in a detached fashion.
