Visiting the site on Yantra Yoga, I saw a chart with letters and corresponding numeric values. It basically went something like, A:1, B:2, C:3, etc.
Now, call me a skeptical nay-sayer, but this seems a bit ridiculous to me. So, A corresponds with 1 which corresponds with other qualities. And then, based on letters and their associated numbers and meanings associated to the numbers, we can create names that have vibrational energies that will make us happier or sad or what have you.
Seems unlikely at best to me, or am I missing something?
I got into the Cabala for a while, and studied numerological assocations with various meanings. It was interesting, but was often arbitrary in my mind.
I do believe that certain sounds have fairly predictable effects on human beings. The "ssssss" sound will make a room of people go quiet, beyond conditioning. It seems to be hard wired. I know from my conversations with people more knowledgeable than I am that there are scientific studies that confirm that certain vocally reproducable sounds do have the same effects upon animals and humans (without conditioning).
So, I guess it IS possible for someone to have a vibrationally "good" or bad name, but having one that results from A is to 1 is to beginnings is a bit silly and unlikely in my book.
