For another perspective on name analysis go to http://www.real-yoga.com/yantra.yoga and request the free lesson at the bottom.

"Samkhya Yoga is the mathematical science to measure the movements of the heavens. It was displayed to the Learned Ones in great and beautiful symbols, but also in mathematical formulae.

Yantra Yoga used the same mathematical formulas but brought them down to a personal level, whereby they could measure the base character and soul nature of an individual, plus his personality. The way he thought and the way he expressed. His environment and his destiny were all foretold in Yantra.

Discord and Harmony were also evident in the mathematical vibration of his name in relationship to his date of birth. Without the knowledge of Yantric balance each man was inevitable "fixed".

With or without a study of all the Yogas, The Yantrics feel, that given a balanced name, it will allow that person's Atman (Higher Self) to have the expression it needs in this life time to gain Moksha (liberation)."

I have the course materials for KB. I cruised through Yantric. Both are rigid and limited, and cannot account for other instances like master numbers and karmic debt numbers.

Overall, these two are good for learning the foundations.

and last, NUMEROLOGY is real. Just understanding and applying the system is self-enlightenment.

Time to get your lightbulb turned on. Morpheus needs us.

Hard to say if it's self-fulfilling prophecy or not, but my mother named me after Kabalarian principles. I would say that I am fairly close to the personality that my name is supposed to create.

Leaving numerology behind, some names SELL where others do not. One of my friends is the author Tani Jantsang. Her name just doesn't sell books the way other names do, so she goes by T & P Marsh. (P Marsh is her co-author).

Visiting the site on Yantra Yoga, I saw a chart with letters and corresponding numeric values. It basically went something like, A:1, B:2, C:3, etc.

Now, call me a skeptical nay-sayer, but this seems a bit ridiculous to me. So, A corresponds with 1 which corresponds with other qualities. And then, based on letters and their associated numbers and meanings associated to the numbers, we can create names that have vibrational energies that will make us happier or sad or what have you.

Seems unlikely at best to me, or am I missing something?

I got into the Cabala for a while, and studied numerological assocations with various meanings. It was interesting, but was often arbitrary in my mind.

I do believe that certain sounds have fairly predictable effects on human beings. The "ssssss" sound will make a room of people go quiet, beyond conditioning. It seems to be hard wired. I know from my conversations with people more knowledgeable than I am that there are scientific studies that confirm that certain vocally reproducable sounds do have the same effects upon animals and humans (without conditioning).

So, I guess it IS possible for someone to have a vibrationally "good" or bad name, but having one that results from A is to 1 is to beginnings is a bit silly and unlikely in my book.

For English Gemetria, I perfer to work with ASCII values. E.g. "Kaiden" = 558. "Kaiden Fox" = 921, etc.

The whole A=1, B=2 thing is based off the fact that there isn't a Gemetric system for the Latin alphabet, although one can use letters in an ordered list. Technically, it is precise.

Perhaps we can interject a bit of controversy into an otherwise dull topic.

All these arts of divination, like numerology, vedic astrology, runes, i-ching, etc., when done correctly and interpreted correctly have validity. That they have validity is due to the notion that free will does not exist.

The characters that make up a name, the position of the planets, do not in themselves, cause events to happen. There are no coincidences and these seemingly unrelated events are associated together, not through causality, but synchronicity.

We only have the illusion of free will. Or if we really do have free will, it's actually quite irrelevant.

In all the dimensions that make up the physical, astral, and causal planes, (all of this constitutes Maya or the Matrix) we think we are responsible for our actions. ("You've already made the choice, you only need to understand why you made the choice." - but is that really choice???)

The illuison of free will is what drives karma which in turn drives Maya. At the highest level (Pure Consciousness) from which energy emanates as Maya, there is no free will. Everything has been predetermined and we're all acting out scripts on the universal stage. Maya is a dream (or computer simulation) of Brahman, the One who created all this.

The whole rationale for karma is to provide lessons for learning experiences. The true self, or Atman, is here to experience the many variations of karmic game-playing in order to learn. These roles that we assume in each lifetime tend to be scripted affairs. Randomness just would not do since it is a waste of time to re-experience a karmic lesson that's already been learned.

The key to becoming liberated from karma is to realize the futility of free will. There is no do-er. For example, you can't hate someone because of what they did to you. They were just trying to learn the lesson or set themselves up for a future one. The Atman is just tagging along for the ride as an objective observer. You become liberated from Maya (and the samsara of endless rebirths) when you realize there is nothing more for you to learn. But then that's all been predetermined anyway.

Admittedly though, most people enjoy playing the Maya game and don't want to leave it just yet. So you see, spiritual growth is just the accumulation of game points. The name of the game is to become liberated and become a siddha like - Super Sayan or Neo!!!

Do we gamers like it when we see the words:

GAME OVER

or do we play more rounds like the addicts that we are.

This argument has been made before without any appeals to mysticism or religious belief. Newton's universe was simply a machine which could be described as a series of equations. That is, the entire universe from beginning to end is just an equation that is working itself out. No free will, just cause and inevitable effect.

In order to examine the notion of choice and free will we must, I think, find a definition of consciousness that pushes the subject one way or the other. If by being conscious we can observe and make a real decision, then we have free will. If consciousness is merely a phenomenon that rides atop all of these chains of cause and effect (or synchronicities), then there is no choice but certainly an illusion of one. I think here of people unknowingly following post-hypnotic suggestions but coming up consciously with their own, irrelevant, reasons for their actions.

I believe that there is a play between order and chaos in this universe, and that in order to have choice one must be sufficiently infused with chaos. Consciousness must transcend both pattern and non-pattern in order to make a choice ... be on a level higher than that from which it chooses.

Is consciousness ever really on that level? Or are we just interesting freaks of nature (consciousnesses riding atop meat machines) that think we are in control of a scripted show?

Does it really matter anyway, though? Everything is still the same as it always was, regardless.

There are many levels of consciousness, some of which go beyond David Hawkins' Map of Consciousness scale. At the very top is Pure Consciousness from which this universe and other parallel universes emanate as energy.

There are no accidents in the universe. Cause and effect is very linear and the truth is non-linear, a synchronicity if you will.

Albert Einstein, who in his previous incarnations was the saint Bogar in India and the Taoist sage Lao Tzu in China, said it best: "God does not play dice with the universe!"

To paraphrase Scott McNealy of Sun Microsystems, "You have no free will. Get over it."

At these lower dimensions of Maya, everyone acts as if there is free will. And for all practical purposes, that is indeed the reality here. Once you go higher, you see how futile it all is.

May the Power be with you.

Hale Dwoskin, who teaches the Sedona Method, has an advanced course where he shows you how to release the attachment to free will. I highly recommend it.

Karma and sin require free will in order to operate effectively. When you've done something wrong, you blame yourself and feel guilty setting yourself up for a karmic debt to be paid in some present or future lifetime. Most major religions depend on these rules. When someone else does you some perceived wrong, you develop negative feelings toward that person and you help maintain the status quo. Now this is all well and good for those who want to play the game.

But how can you feel guilty if you know you are not the do-er. You were just acting out the script and mouthing your lines. When someone hurts you, you know that they really didn't do that to you. How can karma control you any longer? You have become free of it.
As the Dalai Lama put it, "there is no good or bad, but whenever you can, do good."

The realization of the futility of free will, however, is the key to moksha or liberation. You don't want to play anymore and you want out. Eventually this is what happens to everyone. Meanwhile you love it here and can't be dissuaded from buying into the free will control mechanism. Again that is fine and good. No one should leave before their time.

As an analogy, think of a normal dream. You're actually in a staged play and not really in control of the script. You think you have free will but you really don't. You're led along from one scene to another. Unless of course, you become lucid in the dream state. When you have a lucid dream, you know it's a dream and you are in control. You direct the script. You can have all the siddhis you want and fly, teleport, beat formidable monsters, and become fully aware.

This Maya we are in is also a dream - a dream emanating from Pure Consciousness. Most of us are not fully aware - we're just robots mechanically going with the flow. But there is a ghost in the machine - the God within each of us.

However, a few do attain self-awareness and become lucid in this great dream and realize how illusory it is. The few who attain enlightenment and achieve liberation from Maya, never to be reborn, unless they "choose" to, for the purpose of enlightening others to their predicaments.

No, none of this is new. It's taught in the Bhagavad Gita and is at the core of Advaita Vedanta, the philosophical foundation of all branches of Yoga.

when the Taoist sage Chuang Zu awoke from his nap, he said he had no way of knowing whether he was a man who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or if he was still a butterfly who was dreaming he was a man.
