Do we see the world as it truly is? Yes - every one of us billions upon billions of individual people (life forms, conscious beings, etc) see the world as we each understand it to truly be.
We go along through life sometimes thinking that maybe the religeons are right, that there is one Truth after all and we're just not "getting" it. Then one day we become cognizant of the fact that each of us have our own perceptions of life based upon whatever we are understanding/experiencing only at that precise moment in time, because our perceptions are always in a state of flux.
So then one day, after we encompass total enlightenment, we come to the salient realization that we could, in all likelihood, be wrong.
I have come to "know" that nothing is real - just as nothing is unreal. It all just is. And we all go along as best we can, growing and expanding our base knowledge as we travel along (okay, most of us) trippng and falling over our own feet for the most part, forever relearning how to just get out of our own way. Because human perceptions are limited no matter how you choose to look at it - and there is more to this world/reality/universe/space-time continuum than the most enlightened/tripped out/guru/guy next door could ever possibly imagine, even if he did have conscious awareness of eternity and the possibility of immortal souls, and the reality of reality.
