I am sure that with your help she will come to learn and understand the value of a work ethic and be motivated by it, with your help.

I don't think a work ethic, or anything like that, is something you can install. You know? There is obedience and then there is understanding.

The work ethic is something you have to learn by experience. I was almost through my undergraduate degree before I started to develop an appreciation for "just keep working" (sorry for the Nemo reference) attitude. Up until then things had always come easy for me. I never had to work.

My wife is has had a reverse history to my own and she has a great attitude towards the value of work. I think you have to experience the power and success of what just taking little steps towards a goal can do for you. We all do it naturally.

The work ethic is something I hope results as a side-effect. I'm very conscious of not over-doing the work and learning thing. I don't want to be faced with a total rebellion in a few years. I know there will be some rebellion, but hopefully the core values will not be discarded.

My main efforts are for acquiring her academic skills, and exploring the action of learning with her. Teaching her to come at problems from many directions and use her whole mind, to be observant of her mental and physical state to grain information about herself and the situtation, and use the information for guidance.
