kmurph885, I'll echo bennypr2002. Studying and programming are one thing, but you should get out there and do. Check-out Toast Masters, it is quite instructional and opened enough that you can add whatever you what to achieve for yourself. I will suggest that you check out a few clubs if you have that luxury. Each club has it's own personality. It's free to be a quest and any club will let you visit as often as you like.
If you do join, it's quite cheap.
BTW, I joined last November and I'm giving my third speech next week. I've been impressed by my own achievements and what I've learned. The learning comes as much from the doing as the little instruction / guidance you get from the member material.
It's a self-paced all volunteer (club members) program. You can even be a member at several clubs if you like.
