Ye old NLP rapport exercises demonstrate some amazing things in this regard.

Try this exercise:

Sit 90+ degrees from another person. Decide who is going to be person A and who is going to be person B.

It is person A's job to pick some pleasant memory that easily comes to mind and stays in his or her mind. Person A is to sit there, close the eyes, and settle down, and keep thinking about that memory.

Person B's job is to maneuver his or her body as exactly like Person A's as possible. Sit the same, breathe the same, have the same posture, facial expressions, etc.

Then Person B is to not what comes into his or her mind. Whatever feelings occur within his or her body. Any sensory experiences, emotions, and thoughts come to mind are to be noted.

Then, have person A come back and compare person B's experiences to person A's. That is, see if what person B was experiencing was anything like what person A was remembering.

We did this at a seminar, and you would be amazed at the kinds of information you can pick up.
