I am a huge fan of that book (the original), and I have Rebecca Fine's audio cassettes in my car which are a staple, along with Claude Bristol's Magic of Believing and Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.

The thing about Wattles that helped me, is just the fact that work became more enjoyable. It seems like many other writers, though good, don't give you a guideline as to how you should _be_ during your work hours. Many writers have plenty of things to say about your spare hours: study this, meditate (which is good don't get me wrong), get these multiple streams of income going, etc.

SOGR has you actually apply the quality of your higher vibration self (the Self of you that surfaces when you are thinking about your grandest vision of your desired lifestyle) to the work you presently doing.

I don't think this answer will really appeal to you that much, but this is what I got out of it. He instructs you to work in "That Certain Way" so that you are working your regular job in such a way as though you are already possessing your desired outcome, performing your actions with that kind of "power", as though, "YES!:, I'm here in my own business!" so you are working automatically 10x more efficient than other coworkers (who will see what they can get away with when the boss is gone).

You come away from the book with a solid Knowing that part of your tithe to the Universe is when you are giving more in Use value than the company is giving you. So you are ALready reaping returns by the extra value you give and the energy and quality you give to your work. And even if you want to gradually get away from your job, that makes no difference.. he has you, in so many words, use the opportunity of the value you provide to your company, as a way to create that vacuum that Emerson describes.
The other important thing that improved my quality of thoughts was his admonition to spend as much of your spare time, on your desired objective, as possible. Real simple: you get what you think about. Law of Attraction.

I don't really agree with his recommendation to "not follow any other teachings", and "just read his words". He wrote the book in 1908, after all.

Anyone who has been born after 1950 or so, has been dealing with the negative programming, the constant hammering of negativity from the mass-cosnciousness fed by tv, and the really negative media.

So anything (such as the Abundance For Life Course, or other programs that deliver a change in your constant below the surface level thinking) that helps "re-do" these false ideas (that the outside world decides your reality), would always be a great thing to supplement the great classics like SOGR.

Okay, I'm good for now, let's get back to work and think about my vision as though it was present.

Steve
