I realise that interpretation of the imagestream is personal to each individual.
But are then any general rules of thumb?
I usually jave to delve quite deep before some real insight comes to me.
I use things like double meanings of words, and also historical and societal connections that can de drawn from words.
For example I am doing a dissertation on Feminism as part of my examination.
Flowers were a prevalent part of the imagestream, both roses and daisies.From that I came to daisy a common name for a kept cow with a bell arounf its neck so we can hear if it tries to escape.We exploit her both for milk and perhaps later reproduction then meat.
From flowers I got to bees which suggest procreation and reproduction. Then I thought of bees as a species with a Queen at the head of its society in a position of dominance. This is governed perhaps by biological fact but this is not the same situation in humans. But until recently there no queens in England. So notionally evenone serves the Queen in much the same way as the Queenbea.
I then parallel these situations with the position of the woman in contemporary society.
