Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ Beyond Human Peripheral vision

I don't know if this has been discussed already before, but I am wondering if peripheral vision could be used with the same detail and awareness as foveal vision? For example: Could I look clearly past another person but still be "looking" at their eyes for example - and also see the whole face perfectly? I do notice that it is somewhat easy to see where other people is looking at even if I don't look directly at their face. But is it possible to see their facial expression and everything as vividly as if you were looking at them?

Is there difference if you do it "real time" or if you would pick up the image from memory?

Try that with someone and the will accuse you of not listening to them. you get that sort of glazed, spaced out look in your eyes.

Whatever details you see the brain fills in.

Are you able to do what I was talking about? It doesn't make sense if you're talking with the other person but if you are not (sitting in a train or something), then it makes some sense.

Yeah. Makes them fidget. It's like you're looking right through them. I've seen that irritate someone enough that they waited to start a fight with the daydreamer.

The eyes don't see, the mind does, and if your looking with your peripheral focus the mind usually wanders off, hence the lack of detail.

Good lord I hate it when the other co-owner of the company 'phases out' while I'm talking to him. His inattentiveness is so easy to spot, and unfortunately way too frequent. Gets me ****ed off just thinking about it. Most people tend to hold they're attention when I speak to them, however this guy could seriously need some Ritalin!!
