Many years ago (like 25) I worked with a guy who noticed I smoked and he told me that he had quit smoking a few years before. Now he could do things that he only dreamed of before. His passion was hiking. He wanted to hike the entire Rocky Mountain Range. When he smoked he could barely walk 2 miles without loosing his breathe. At that point he was able to walk over 25 miles and was planning his dream hike. He ended off his story with "Quiting smoking was the smartest thing I ever did" I took this to heart and over the next two years I also quit and never looked back. He was right.

After thinking about that comment I began to pay attention to someone when they said "The smartest thing I ever did was...."

Some people it was marrying their childhood sweetheart or buying a house, many times something very simple but it was the smartest thing they ever did. Many times it wasn't something planned at all, it was just dumb luck because of the circumstances.

Does anyone have a story on the Smartest thing they ever did?

Jeff

One of the smartest things I've done before was to hike a few miles into town pick up a magazine and find an advert for the paraliminals, remember the contact number, hike all the way back to work, write down the number, get home and phone that number.

Smarter!!! = Luckier!!!

The smartest things I ever did..........well there are lots but to me the process rather than the content is more important. So my answer is visualising what I want and setting really tangible goals and then committing 100% to them. So the smartest thing I ever did was goal set, then set new goals and go for them, set goals in all areas of my life and link and sequence the goals and imagaine achieving and living them now. If you don't achieve the goal ask yourself are you nearer or further from what you want and then reset the goal........etc

Jeff,

Thanks for the topic.

Start loving myself unconditionally, every opportunity I remember. I love this habit.

It took me awhile to answer my own question but I believe the smartest thing I ever did was to move to Maui. It really is more of a state of mind than a location.

Here I have experienced many cultures and had many great Teachers come and visit me.
It is a place that is very practical and very mystical at the same time. The place seemed to claim me when I arrived. There was a sense I was home after much traveling all my life and I had tears coming down my face (don't tell anyone!)

Best of all, it's always warm.

I demanded a refund for the quack products I bought from Jonathan Goldman at www.higherpowertech.com(Thundertech / Higherpowertech) I can't believe he sells overpriced blocks of resin (calling them radionics) with the promise that these things give you the world! Stupid me.

I should have spent the thousands of dollars on LSC tapes instead!

Smartest thing that I ever did...

Well it's certainly not the easiest. I started to look at myself and my life with honesty.

It's the biggest challenge that I've ever undertaken and takes a lot of courage at times, but I'm determined to stick with it through it's ups and downs.

I'm finding that nothing can hide behind honesty - this is why courage is it's partner. But in saying this, I am beginning to realise that no harm can ever come from my being honest.

Honesty is giving me the power to face parts of my life that have been difficult and the power to pack up wasteful tendencies. I know that if I stick with it, I'll re-introduce a quality of truth to my life that is just under the surface, waiting to emerge with the love that I am.

It's not quite there yet, but I'd like to thank Jeff for his question and prompting me to share my thoughts so far of the wonderful virtue and powerful teacher that honesty is.
