What they mean when they say everyone's schizophrenic to one degree or another is that everyone has multiple intelligences and faces.
Some people are able to integrate their multiplicity and be able to present themselves in a socially acceptable way, while others are less capable and are branded as ill.
For example, when I'm talking to someone, I think I'm talking to one individual, but in fact, that one person is a mosaic of many, many aspects, for example, left-brain, right-brain, primitive brain, consious, OTC, feeling, knowing, sexual, playful, ethical, criminal, spiritual, industrial, creative, athletic ... etc ... all going on at the same time in one person, all constantly evolving in different ways, all striving for dominance. The "normal" person has the capability to present an integrated whole to the world, but which particualr aspect dominates depends on the specific situation.
So, the big challenge of effective communication is knowing how to connect with the aspect of the person I really need to be dealing with.
