I would photoread the entire book and activate what I needed.
To be more specific, the first time through I would photoread the whole thing and then on subsequent sessions I would just photoread the chapter that I was interested in before I activated it.
Of course that suggestion assumes a longer time frame with the book but if its for school or something then that shouldn't be a problem.
