I have questions about how effective photoreading is for fiction books. I know beginners should use smaller non-fiction books to start, but I'm really much more interested in getting through all the fiction books I've bought over the years. Is there a special technique for activating fiction? Will it still be enjoyable reading or will I just feel like I've rushed through a book? When can I move from non-fiction to fiction books? I would appreciate any advice and examples of what more experienced photoreaders do.

I have used the PRing for exactly this same reason. I always rememer a quote that has stuck with myself for ages. "Reading makes the difference between those who are educated and really educated".This just struck a very strong accord with me because I have always been aware that I never used to read much at all, let alone ficton.

A special technique to activate fiction?? What do you want to get out of your fiction books? This will determine how you activate the books. I have used my dreams, literature lecture, movies and rapid reading. I suppose the best example of using the "full" PRing system is PRing all that I could find on a French author called Moliere. I PRed all his plays and then every critique that I could find in both Frrench and English, attended lectures and then wrote an essay. I knew this guy inside out and subsequently passed an exam for the module that I had spent the last few weeks studying.

Here's my fiction formula. I photofocus the book first and then let it incubate over night. Then I rapid read the whole thing at a pace I find comfortable. After photofocus I am able to read the book much faster and understand it on a deeper level.

I dislike speed reading because my comprehension goes in the tank and it's uncomfortable. But rapid reading after photofocusing is enjoyable and I connect with the book on a deeper level.
