I have really been interested in the Silva info recently.
The below part is from your post. From my reading of Jung's work (I have his collected works & have read all the volumes), he would agree to what is written below.
The main point that he was trying to make, if I recall the article correctly, is that the unconscious, rather than being blind and dumb, is actually possessed of far more intelligence (i.e. - consciousness) than we ordinarily ascribe to it, and that it can observe, make deductions, comparisons, etc. without "us" being consciously aware of these processes benefits...

But, again i feel that it does not make itself directly known b/c it just can't due to the nature of it. This is the reason for activation techniques. Or, more subtly, we suddenly become aware of something & look to make connections. Eg., had he not questioned his thoughts, he'd have never consciously known the unconscious was working. For most people it works w/o any conscious intervention. Things happen & we go w/ the flow never consciously knowing the underlying influence in the events that take place.
