I've been photoreading anywhere from 3 to 20 books a day. Every few days I'll sit down with one of the books I've previously PRed and spend the time necessary to activate it. This time will vary from about 1 to 3 hours.

For the most part, I never felt consciously aware of anything I'd PRed, but felt very comfortable with the material after a couple of hours of activation with the book.

One day, I picked up a book I had PRed several weeks prior. The book was a manual on novel writing. This particular book was very different from other manuals I'd read in that it was very structured. It suggested that you plan out every chapter and every scene for the whole novel in a very precise way before typing any of the actual novel.

As I activated the book, I realized that the book had already been activated! I have a novel journal that I write in. I found that I had planned out every scene just like the book suggested. Every scene was broken up into all basic components: theme, main characters, dialogue, perspective, setting, motivation, etc. When I started writing in my journal that week, I thought I was the one with the great idea! The fact is that I unknowingly got the information from the novel manual I'd PRed weeks before.

This was a big moment for me. I proved to myself that the PRing step is crucial.

Lassic,
This has been my experience also:

For the most part, I never felt consciously aware of anything I'd PRed, but felt very comfortable with the material after a couple of hours of activation with the book. (your quote)

I am very keen to try what Pete has suggested. I would really like to experience myself processing the info. If it works, i'm going to do it off & on until i get the hang of processing.

Well, i managed to do the exercise. Here are the results i experienced:

I used Personal Genius. I took Nevada Barr's book Track of the Cat.

1. Right side up: while PhRing i noticed the words: concussion & corpse. Basically, i was too concerned w/ imposing myself on the material. And, the 2 times i stopped was absolute zip.

2. Upside down PhRing was much, much better. Although i never had any feelings, sounds or pictures come to me, i found myself stopping 3 times. WOW! Each time was significant.
a) first time i stopped, i just said to myself, "Oh, heck, let's see what's here." I had actually stopped at the most critical time of the book (i assume) b/c it was the part where Anna Pigeon was injured & had fallen down into a deep crevice. She was dripping blood & sweat & had deep scratches on her chest. And she said that this must be what it feels like to die. HELL, i suddenly for the first time knew what processing was....a little, anyway!
b) Next time i just stopped to rest & again said why not give it a try. BUT, i was Very Nervous to do this. I actually hit the Major clue to the whole book (it wasn't a large book though). BUT, i was so impressed! Due to the front cover & the scratches on Anna Pigeon, i had wondered but nothing specific. OK! This is what i had stopped on: They were talking about what if someone wanted the body to be found to make it appear that a lion had done the killing. WOW!
c) So, as i continued PhRing, i stopped close to the beginning. I said that that is a crazy place to stop b/c nothing cool could be happening so close to the b/g. But, after 2 for 2, i did read & immediately saw this: Anna was talking about the day Sheila was killed to her mother & had asked to look at her backpack. So, w/ 3 right?! 3 stops in a book i'd never read b/c i had fantastic success.

EVALUATION: I definitely felt a kind of detachment when doing the book upside down. I felt less threathened by any conscious mind intervention. I sincerely think that w/ practice, i will eventually get the hang of it. I can sense some kind of state of mind that will allow me to feel processing of material in a more direct manner. I clearly felt the 3 stops were b/c of being tired of turning ---but they were the 3 exact spots to stop! So, it couldn't be b/c of being tired. But, i can't put my finger on why i stopped. NOTHING was evident by way of feelings, sounds, or pictures.

Cool.

One of the reasons I suggested an environment with as few distractions as possible, from noise to temperature to lighting and so on, is to allow space for signals from inside to come up.

Grab another book and do it again. Don't look for signals, but notice what signals are present. For example, what went on just before you got tired turning the pages. Remember what happens when you are going through the book upside down and backwards...you know what has happened so you better know pivotal points, etc.

Pete,
Thanks so much for this input. I'm not real sure how to get the bold print in your quote w/ my comments. But, i'll give it a try. I'll use caps just in case the bold print does not show up. This is a technically advanced DF.

I WAS IN A TOTALLY QUIET ENVIRONMENT. AND, I THINK THAT'S WHAT I WAS GETTING AT THE END WAS A SENSE OF ALLOWING A SPACE FOR SIGNALS FROM INSIDE TO COME UP. PhRing ACTIVATION BROUGHT ME FACE TO FACE W/ MY LACK OF SELF ESTEEM. I SAW IT CLEARLY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

YES, I INTEND TO GRAB AS MANY AS IT TAKES B/C I MUST HAVE GOTTEN SOMETHING RIGHT TO STOP AT 3 KEY SPOTS. HONEST, 3 & ONLY 3 & THEY WERE PERFECT.

Don't look for signals, but notice what signals are present. For example, what went on just before you got tired turning the pages.
YES, SOMETHING HAPPENED BUT I CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON IT. I THINK I MAY HAVE FELT SOMETHING IN MY SOLAR PLEXIS IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE....LIKE A SLIGHT TWINGE???

Remember what happens when you are going through the book upside down and backwards...you know what has happened so you better know pivotal points, etc.

I REALLY LIKE UPSIDE DOWN & BACKWARDS, IT ALWAYS FEELS BETTER TO ME. MY BLIP PAGE IS USUALLY 3-4 INCHES WIDE B/C I'M JUST SO RELAXED GOING BACKWARDS.

I FEEL GUILTY GETTING ALL THIS FREE COACHING!THANKS SO VERY MUCH.

You are not receiving free coaching. Rather, you are paying for your coaching. You see, you are coaching the thousands of other people who visit the Forum to learn about PhotoReading. These welcomed and silent visitors do not ask questions or contribute their comments.

So, Margaret and the other contributors, you provide great service to many, many people. Judging by the personal emails I receive and telephone comments to our customer service staff, many people appreciate your sharing, your coaching.

Vanquish any feelings of guilt and revel in your good work!

(Remember to check in on Christmas Eve!)

I’m wrapping up a course in Japanese anthropology. The exam is tomorrow. It’s 6AM, haven’t been to sleep yet, am not going to sleep until 5PM (until my last exam is finished.)

My intention was to try out the suggestions you offered at a later date—over break. And of all times, I should be studying right now. HOWEVER, I just had an unintentional experience, which I believe fits under this heading that I’d like to share.

I just PhotoRead 3 200 page books and 400 pages of loose-leaf articles that compose a course packet. The articles are on all different subjects—there are perhaps 40 of them. The stack of articles took me 3 sessions to PhotoRead—I was going very slowly, taking my merry time. I did not preview.

ANYWAY, as I was going through the pages at one point I began to experience strange physiological phenomena. I noticed increased saliva, increased heart rate, and *censored*

Curious, I stopped to see if it was the ‘feeling’ thing you guys have been talking about or something else. It turns out that the article I was on was about Japanese barmaids or servant wenches... what do we call them these days?.... uh..
WAITRESSES! Yes that it! Japanese waitresses who willingly would take intense sexual harassment from Japanese businessmen.

Apparently this is a very big cultural tradition over there, where, after a hard day’s work—a 14 hour or so day—the entire section will hop on over to a land of neon lights, where there are many ways to Release their built up tension by talking dirty (VERY DIRTY) to their waitresses. And, of course, they Notice a whole bunch, and they Respond and Witness too…..but no touch

I’d quote you some lines from the article, but I do not think that would be appropriate here.

On a side note, perhaps you should consider adding something like this to your weblist of PhotoReading experiences. Something like: ‘A man PhotoReads the collected works of erotic fiction writer Anais Nin and experiences lucid dream.’ Sex sells, after all...

Brian!

Your experience sure does fit in here
How exciting. I hope i can eventually get that kind of input from my other than conscious mind.

I think i'll steer clear of the sexual books :0) I meditate at night!

I can't wait to try it again.

Thanks Margaret!
You seem like a very positive person.

It was totally spontaneous.
I find that the longer the photo-reading session (breaks included), the deeper and more attuned I get. I was on the photoreading step for over 40 combined minutes here! (I wanted to make sure I 'got it all' for my exam--which I just aced. With LS, life is getting easier all the time.)

One thing you said really rang true--about leaving a space. I can totally relate to that. When you make your mind empty, that's when things start to jump out of it!!!

Congratulations on your test

In my book: staying positive is more than a state of mind--- it's a discipline.

Far out on the misty waves, another more excellent realm of thought exists. It's a place where you speak immediately; it's the other than conscious mind's full intelligence.
