I wasn't going to post my experience, but after Brian649 opened up, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I decided to try the novel experiment with a short book. I didn't want to spend a great deal of time on a 400 page novel. I found an old horror novel on one of the shelves. It was less than 200 pages so I figured I would give it a shot. I was a little nervous because the book was described as "scary, grim, fast-paced..." and it was 12:30 at night. Oh well, maybe I'll have a nightmare...

1. A third of the way into the book, my legs began to feel strangely weak. Although I couldn't figure out how this might relate to the book, I decided to check. A couple of pages back, I found that the main character had just killed someone he cared about and was very anguished. I could relate to him having that feeling in HIS legs.

2. Two-thirds of the way into the book, I started thinking about a gypsy woman. I checked the book to find the main character was visiting a psychic/mystic woman for help. This seemed to be a gypsy-like character.

I then finished the book. Remembering Margaret's post, I decided to flip it over and PR it again.

3. Although I didn't know it at the time, the book is "sort of" a werewolf story. My dog came down the stairs and, even though I knew it was him (I could see him in my expanded peripheral vision), for some reason, this really scared me. I realized my heart was racing and I had no idea why. I don't know if it was somehow related to what I was PRing or not. He is constantly running up and down the stairs and I'm to the point that I completely tune him out. I think that my pulse had already begun to race and I noticed it when he distracted me. Was it a response to what I was reading?

4. Somewhere around the halfway point of the book, a slang term for sexual intercourse popped into my head. This is a word that doesn't typically pop into my thinking (unless I've done something like smash my finger with a hammer). It was odd enough that I decided to check the text again. Two pages back from where I was, there was a sex scene that was anything but romantic. It was a violent and disgusting scene. The word that popped into my head was probably more appropriate than any of the more polite words.

5. The most bizarre thing was the dream I had that night. It had nothing to do with the book, but it was unlike any dream I've ever had. It was like a movie. It was a spy thriller very much like something Robert Ludlum might write. It was strange because the dream seemed so intricately plotted. Unlike my normal dreams, it was very sequential. There were characters that came and went and remained consistent throughout. There were none of the odd inconsistencies or "Alice In Wonderland shifts" that are so typical of my dreams. I don't know how this relates to PR but I think that it somehow was.

mgrego,
What a great read! This is really important stuff, no question about it. Please, everyone be sure to post your experiences. I really hope i get to a point where i can physically sense the material as you have done.

Just for fun, see if that author has ever written a spy thriller.

Somehow your brain registered the intricated plot of the book you had PhR & then wrote another mystery. I wonder if you need to be more creative? Or, maybe you are very creative & it's just reflecting that creativity?

Thanks for sharing!

Great stories!

I'm reminded of a woman whose love life was dead. Before going to bed at night she would PhotoRead a romance novel or an erotic novel. She said it helped relight a flame in her relationship with her husband.

She exclaimed, "PhotoReading saved my marriage."

Well, Everyone,
I'm not going to post any more experiences. I have definitely gotten the hang of processing material. I want to thank Brian & mgrego2 b/c i worked during this past weekend w/ sensing things in my body. I used Reframing. I like that tape b/c it asks you what you want & what you do that hinders you from achieving it.

After reading your posts, it finally hit me that i really could feel stuff, if i just programmed myself. I was able to feel my mouth water, solar plexis jump & also my legs. It's still subtle but the more detached i am, the clearer it seems to be. And, each time i felt something & stopped, i was rewarded w/ salient points.

With my first, not so good PR start I was very keen on trying what Pete suggested. I searched my shelf and thought a cheap 200 page thriller would do, even though I had read it a year ago. (Actually, BECAUSE I had read it before, so I knew itfs not going to be to scary) But I didnft remember much, only that I didnft like it for various reasons. My first attempt was no good, because my eyes caught single words. So I stopped, turned the book around (thanks, Margaret) did some breathing and soon felt drawn into the story. My first stop was when the good guy discovered some important papers in a desk (the usual - oh, oh - the - bad - one - is - on - itfs way - will - the - good - one - make – it- scene). Next I paused because I was thinking – gsomeone is on the runh, went back a couple or three pages and looked at the page where the hero is sneaking out of room where he was held hostage. Then I thumbed through the book again, in Photofocus, right way up. When I put the book down for good I remember thinking gNow the good one is safe, that should be ith but I felt still restless, insecure. I read the last pages and saw that the chase had indeed lasted up to the page before the last. I was very impressed with the results. Even though I had read the book before, I had never FELT it. Also, just Pring the book triggered memories of what I had read consciously a year ago flowing back into my conscious mind. Now that I am writing this it becomes clear to me that by photoreading I had truly ACTIVATED that old book and felt what it was about, while when I had just read it word by word by conscious mind had been to busy telling me how badly and cheaply written it was.
This might not sound very impressive given the fact that I had read the book before, but the point is, that for the first time I felt something, or rather had thoughts about the book in my hands coming to my mind at all and being aware of it. while gazing at it upside down

Given my experience the day before I tried the same approach, when I had to go through a marketing report on the internet at work. I did not preview, but just scrolled down the text slowly gazing at the text in photofocus and stopped once where I felt I should do so. I was right! This is what I was looking for! Unbelievable. Then my old doubts crept up and I checked: all the information beforehand was indeed not relevant to me.

Thanks to Petefs suggestion I now have a new understanding how Photoreading can be used. It helps to go through information like a search engine. Usually, when I go through a report, even with a very defined goal I tend to get pulled off the track, because I am trying to evaluate consciously whatever meets my eyes, itfs a continuous cycle of stating the purpose/ checking whether my question is answered by what I see/ no-yes/ oh, thatfs interesting, too , or is it?– sidetrack – ouch!!/ what was it again I am reading this for? / stating purposecI now wonder, how long I am going to need to feel comfortable with the new way. Old habitscfeel somewhat safer. Funny enough, even though I had these good experience I still have to build up trust in myself. Letfs do it. Gimme the books!!!

Stick with it, nothing compares with making your own experience.

Jubilee, jubilah
Happyday

PS: Maybe it doesnft have to be so exciting. Yesterday I tried an American contemporary book, just fiction. After a few pages photofocussing I caught myself thinking: gHow boring, description of a suburbh, went back to see that I was right. (Unfortunately I didnft get anything else out of that book.)

HappyDay,

I like your idea of acting as a search engine. I guess that's what PR is all about, but you phrased it in a way that applies for me. I photofocused once on a PDF manual and was able to find the relevant passage I needed very quickly. It was very interesting but for some reason I never tried it again. You've reminded me now. Thanks.

Margaret,

I hope you'll continue to share your experiences/techniques for "feeling" the PR'd material. Although I've had a few experiences in this regard, I have a long way to go. To me, that's a very key element in the process. I believe I PR and get the information, I just need to continue to improve my ability to pick up the signals.

Could describe in more detail how you went about this? I am also not quite sure what tape you are talking about. But the main question for me now is: How do you manage to become/ stay detached? Do you use Oasis here too. I had put it aside because I thought the music would distract me to much.

After my succesful tries described above I am not so lucky any more. I can't let go. I want to check back so often, thereby loosing the state. It was easier when I didn't know what to expect. Do tell me how you did your programming.

Happyday

Happyday,
Wonderful report! It's really heartening to read these sensual experiences during PhRing!

Reframing is the A side of the paraliminal New Behavior. I'm experimenting though. Next, i'm going to use Memory Supercharger.

No, i'm not going to use any music w/ PhRing at this time. I'm too busy keeping myself detached! I think Chunyi Lin's music & Silent Stimulation are probably the best kind of music/sounds to listen to. I am using Silent Stimulation for PhRing my 3+ books a day to "burn it (PhRing) in."

Programming is being aided by working on the Silva Mind Control Method. I'm using those books thanks to Tracy Saboe & ckerins. Basically, it's all just getting to an alpha brain wave state & visualizing & then coming out. It's the same process that LS uses for the paraliminals.

I know your feeling of doubt after success. It's crazy. We should not sabotage our success. That's why Brian's & mgrego2's posts helped me considerably. I stopped at 3 key points, but had no idea why. That kind of stopping is hard to trust. After reading their posts, i just get almost to the point of just watching my body for signs. I'm PhRing, but i'm totally into watching my physical reactions....really watching for any kind of movement or twinge. This is how i found that my mouth waters! It happened a couple times b/f i even noticed it. I'm letting the brain/alpha take care of itself. My job is to just pick up any signs from my body which must be the peripheral recall that Paul speaks of in the course.

NOTE: Turning the book upside down as a part of the total PhRing step is in the course, but after speaking to Dana, who said he always read the books backwards, i do it that way also. Dana has been doing it for a long time & he was/is a great coach.

I am looking forward to 7 days away from work. That'll give me plenty of time to relax, relax, rela, rel, re...zzzzz. Big Alphatime is coming.

Margaret, your approach of just watching yourself "reacting" thereby shifting your concentration away from the lines in Photofocus sounds very convincing. Can't wait to see what's in there when I watch ME: ?

Take care
I'm off for a week

Happyday

I offered to give a PhotoReading Activator Paraliminal Tape to the person with the most interesting post describing one's experience while PhotoReading. Paul Scheele spoke today and the winner is...
