When I enter the accelerative learning state
what brain waves are being generated(e.g. beta, alpha or theta?

(I believe that theta is ideal for the whole process--but it is okay if you are in alpha for the stages other than PhotoRead.)

Actually, I have a further question.

What is the best frequency--that is, 'exact' frequency--6 or 4 or (?) hz? --if one was listening to a binaural beat, what properties should it possess?

Is there an ideal?

Some say 4hz is best for accelerative learning, and some say 6hz.

Some also have sounds in the background. Like a tick tock at 60bpm. Some have ocean waves. And some have different types of noise, ie. pink.

For example, here are some descriptions from the presets at www.bwgen.com

SUPERLEARNING: 4 beats, with 194.71hz, 136.10Hz, 172.06HZ and 112Hz carrier frequencies. Should be good for learning and memory

MEMORY BOOSTER: The background is a file of pink noise and a low frequency tone, both at 4bpm. The sound is very often used by the Monroe institute to boost memory.

LEARNING AID for studying: Helps to learn and memorize new material when listened to while learning something. 6hz

(btw, I very often use the bwgen while PRing.)
It is an INCREDIBLY useful program.
I highly recommend it--it has many many uses.

Sorry Brian, You must be in the Alpha state prior to photoreading. Deep sleep and dreaming is associated with the theta and delta levels. Can't do much actual page turning in your sleep. Is that something like "Sleep Walking"?

REALLY? wow. That's a paradigm shift. I always thought that theta was paramount for wide access to the subconscious?

I know REM sleep is theta, for sure.

And Zen masters can meditate at as low as 5hz without a hitch.

But are you sure that you cannot be *awake* and in theta at the same time?

Also, if you could, then, would theta be more suitable than alpha for the PhotoReading step?

Alpha is all that is needed for PhotoReading. Theta can be beneficial for activation.

When you say theta can be beneficial for
activation do you mean dreaming because I
thought theta was while sleeping and not
during super reading and dipping?

Readers of this thread might be interested in reading _The High Performance Mind_ by Anna Wise. She discusses the various brainwave frequencies, and how to "activate" them. All of the brainwaves are present in varying proportions all the time - shifting into different "states" ius simply a matter of decreasing some and increasing others. A strong mixture of alpha and theta waves can be generated while lowering beta output through intense imagery exercises while keeping the body and conscious mind deeply relaxed.

Yes, I have tried some of her recommendations. Some of very good, I think. The only real problem that I had with her book was that it can make the person trying her techniques a little self-conscious. She talks in her book about the "mind mirror" - basically, and EEG that you can purchase for about $4,000 and how you really don't know if you're getting the correct brain state without it. I found that to be in poor taste.

Another book that might be of interest for those looking to explore different modes of consciousness is Tom Kenyon's _Brain States_. It gives a lot of exercises for playing around in your own head, including the technique of Image Streaming.
