Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer self-study course and hearing impairment

I am profoundly deaf, so I couldn't listen to the audio tapes. I have thought of hiring an interpreter to interpret the tapes for me, but I am afraid that there will be points where I would be instructed to look at the book and away from the interpreter. Those of you who went through the self-study course, please suggest something for me so I can make the most of the PR self-study course. Any hearing-imapired person's reply would be great!!

My heart jumped like crazy when i saw your post! Im also profoundly deaf and studying in University!
I got the course about March last year and haven't been able to get down to do the serious stuff till september last year (a full life you might say)
Anyway right now I've been remembering weird stuff that I suspect I photoread when i got the course. I asked for the makers to rewrite the tapes for me and all kinds of things. they still haven't got it, as far as I know. I just thought I'd wait till i get to know other deaf PhRs.
the most i did was read Paul Scheele's PhotoReading book and I recommend that you do the system that he made up. it WORKS!

Good to hear from you!! Thanks for your reply . . . I'm guessing the best way I could learn how to photoread is to order Scheele's PR book, right? Where should I order it online? Amazon.com? On this website? I already have a book that briefly outlines the photoreading procedure and I have tried to photoread my calculus book twice yesterday for the first time. I'm now trying to activate the information by asking myself questions about the book. I'm not sure if I did it right, though. How would I know? Any surefire way to test myself?

You said that you study "in University." Which university were you talking about? Myself, I am a freshman at University of South Alabama who's looking for the easiest way to ace tests.

This is great! I'm also deaf and but I'm from Sweden and studying at University of Umeå. I found the PR book in a reference in a book about study technique so I have never attended a course in PR. I asked Pete once before how to solve this since I can't hear the tape. He suggested that I should use tangerine technique. But it's varying, sometimes PR works, sometimes not. I don't quite know why. I don't know if I should follow the order in PR or do on my way that it works better.

Miss Eggy, you seem have a good experience to practice PR? Was it difficult at the beginning? How did you?

hey guys.
I haven't been into this stuff for that long so it's not concrete for me. I'm not an expert and am still trying. all Im saying is things just come to me. It's not one of those, I-know-so stuff, it's flimsy at best. The one thing you have to remember is that you have to believe that it works. I mean REALLY believe it. And there is no easy way to explain this. if you expect there are easy ways to ace tests.. I'd think about it if I were you. if you want to do 'really well that people recognise you' PR is one excellent way for it but you have to master that too. Like I said in my earlier post, I've only done about 2 or 3 months period of trying to do it. I'm a beginner.
The only reason why Im keeping on going with five books a day (finding time is hard but I try!) is because for the first time in my life I got 85 percent in an exam. (in W.Australia you need at least 65 percent to pass, and into a University) I'm in Edith Cowan by the way and Im planning to transfer to Uni of W.Australia.
I ordered the packet, and got it. I wear the cochlear implant so I sort of understood the tapes. I 'gave up' on the third tape and been trying the book instead.
The 'packet' is the PR personal learning course that composes of eight tapes, three books, and several bits and pieces. The book Im talking about is titled "PhotoReading" with Paul R.Scheele, M.A. underneath it. I've got the 3rd edition, I don't know how many ed's he's produced but I would say that they all have the same title. It comes from USA so I think you could get it cheaper from a book store!
