Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer how to activate terminology intensive text

I am trying to find out the best way to activate, or whatever it takes for me to gain an excellent grasp on the material I'm reading. Its a pharmacology course and its all about memorization. So, does this mean that i should dip pretty much everywhere? Or how should i go about doing the system with this type of information crammed text? I basically have to memorize the book is what ive been hearing from people who have taken it before me. It is easily the most difficult undergrad class here at MSU. Any suggestions would be great.

I remember way back in my college days ... (well, not that long ago) that my friend and I had no particular interest in a Marketing course we were taking as it had taken a back seat as the Super-EX (sort of like a fair) rolled into the city.

We were more interested in finding girlfriends than having to read a Marketing course book.

So we spent the next three weeks slacking at school and home not once opening the book to read.

Well, as is the case, the course was coming to an end and we had to score well to maintain our 3.85 average.

We spent almost all evening and a good portion of the early morning hours memorizing the book ... we literally knew the book and could recite it back 'word for word' ...

We did extremely well on the exam!

Interestingly, I learned alot that day ... human potential is unlimited and never to wait to the last day to begin reading your book!

So yes, if you want to 'memorize' the material, it is humanly possible ... if you want to be smart, PR the book and build comprehension in the layers that it will take.

One piece of adive I can give is this when it comes to studying ... don't just memorize (retention drops dramtically after a few days ... talk about a waste of your time!) Try to truly 'understand' what it is you are learning ... PR'ing helps you to achieve this by fully involving your mind ... it will serve you now and into you future career!!!

Evanspa21, what can you do? Follow the PR system and compliment it with a paraliminal to enhance your learning!

Remember that you have it within you to succeed in 'anything' you put your mind too!!

Resist dipping too often and for too long.

Make it okay to super read and dip without full comprehension. Over several days, go through the material several times.

The content becomes clearer with each pass, with each layer.

At some point you may choose to rapid read the material (or not).

That sounds good because the text has things that jump out at me on every page (highlighted vocab, colored headings with large font, etc.) which makes activating a long process for me. Also, for me, I seem to prefer postviewing over previewing. I only try to preview the material for a few minutes because like I said above, there is so much info that I could pull out interesting things everywhere, bogging me down before I even PR. So, by PRing the same material often and by not dipping too much each time should make things a bit easier? It sounds good and i've basically been doing that with the exception of activating for a long time each PR session of the material.
