Yes, me too. I went to walk the dog after I posted, and I was somehow a little irritated by the sentence about how PM does not directly aid comprehension. And then ideas started popping into my mind, including this other post of Youngprer's re, as I remember, where PR's going to go from here, or something to that nature.
Well, I started thinking that one way PM would definitely be an asset is that if we had the book PM'd, then we can SR&dip as well as RR much easier and faster, not to mention the convenience. The drawback is for most of us, it takes a lot of time and effort to actually achieve PM of something. It takes ages to be able to visualize a mandala (as far as I know), or even just a page of notes.
Then I got to thinking, what if the PR step can do that for us. Maybe it does. We just don't know how/can't yet retrieve the pictures that way. Maybe we need another, altogether different activation/recall technique. Not just for (high rate of) comprehension.
That's the logical next step to take PR. Let's think of the PR step as saving stuff onto the harddrive, audio, video, word, excel, powerpoint, etc. Actually, let's just deal with print to begin with. When we call up a file into the RAM (activate PR'ed info into conscious mind), say a word file, we don't want just 'comprehension', do we? We want to see the whole thing exactly as we put it in. When we can get our minds to do that, then of course it would work much faster than any computer.
We would still have to comprehend, but that would go much faster, and I dare say, probably more spontaneously, or more often more spontaneously. And then, we won't just have a high level of comprehension, but we would have the text at our disposal. We would be able to chew over difficult to understand material whenever (making use of bits of free time,sort of like adsl) or, for the sake of information or argument, to cite directly from the text.
Is this attainable? Why not? We are on this forum, aren't we? Where members do not hold limiting believes. 
Come on, everyone, let's figure this out.
