Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer Taking a course but didn't read the book

I am a new member to this form. Just joined two seconds ago. I will taking a Photoreading + Hypontic course tomorrow. I procrastinated and did not order the book in time. That is why I am reading through these very interesting threads. I am trying to gleam as much information about the technique as well as the appropriate state in order to make this work.
I am in the Information and Technology field. There a lot of things happening and my need to know knowledge base has expanded at least 200% within the past two years. Consequently, I have signed up for the Photoreading course. I became a NLP practitioner in October 2000. I am not confident in my skill yet. I found out about NLP and Photoreading in November 1999.
Never-the-less, I am looking for advice on how I can get the most out of my course. Any suggestion?

BTW - I am not as decisive as I need to be. I have deemed this to being my core problem leading to procrastination.

Did I mentioned I going to a 5 day seminar tomorrow. Please respond. Thanks!

Welcome and congratulations on deciding to go with PR ... in your area of expertise, it will and I emphasize will make a definate positive impact!

How to get the most out of course. Listen to instructor and be willing to entertain new idea's and approaches to learning! You must be able to commit 100% concentration, be fully relaxed and give time to develop the skill.

The PR course introduces you to these skills, the possibility exists that you will definately experience some positive feedback. But many, including myself have taken time to develop the skill to the point whereby we feel comfortable.

Go into te course with a mind set to 'absorb' as much as you can ... true mastery happens in time.

What would be really interesting would be to hear some feedback from 'you' in respect to your feelings during your progression throught the course.

So drop us a line and keep us posted ... we'd really be interested to hear your experience!

Based on your comments, I will listen to Richard Bandler's Personal Enchancement Series for the reminder of the day. The "Tenacious Resolve" and "Designing Your Destiny" will prepare me to entertain new ideas and learning strategies.

I appreciate the words of encourgements. I am constantly told that PR is not appropriate for computer programming nor is it even necessary. I simply build a shield around me and imagine their words dissolve into a pile of sugar. (Sweet Taste of Success!). Never-the-less, I am amazed that some of the members have used PR to study for their MCSE certification. I would like to find out more details on how they accomplished that.

Unfortunately there isn't any photoreading training site here in B.C. canada. The closest one is about 2 day drives away in Alberta

My advice is to absorb it all. Go at this with a clear distinct curiosity and interest and you well benifit greatly

Check out the belief work from your NLP training. Are you in doubt that you won't get the most out of this course? If you did get the most out of this course, how would you know or what would be the evidence? Just do the best you think you can do and you will get results. This board is full of proof that PR is effective. Just think: you will learn the techniques and the more you practice after the course the more results you get. If you don't practice would you be getting the most out of your course?

I'm taking the PR course in May and have no doubt that I'll benefit from it.

What i really like to learn is the concepts to NLP. It has always attracted me.

Anyone know any good books i can read on this subject matter? I've tried doing a search in my campus library and i found close to nothing.

I can see really clearly in my head how knowing the fundamentals to NLP can greatly benefit my on comming career as an Engineer.
I would be able to enter into a conversation with my co-workers and know exactly how to motivate/organize them.

Its a grand set of concepts. I've gotten a little tast of it from having briskly studied Tony Robbin's fundamental ideas.

Im one of those really cheap type of guy who'd like to leech things. If i could get away with borrowing a book from the library and read it instead of paying hundreds of dollars attending seminars, thats what i would do.

I feel a little guilty about what i've done. Besides having a deep facination into how the human mind works, im also really interested in biology, virology to be exact. Over these past few weeks i've been sneaking into lectuers at my university without being formally enrolled in the course Yikes!! im turning into an evil villen.

You must be taking the class from Julie Silverthorn. Tell us about your experiences in the class. I've never taken one of her classes, but I've always heard good things.

Be sure to PhotoRead every NLP book you can get your hands on. Over and over. You'll be pleasantly surprised how what's in the books will show in your behaviors and actions.

And, you'll probably find your issues with procrastination melting away.

If not, the Get Around To It Paraliminal Tape will handle it for you. (As a NLPer, you might also like to listen to the tape consciously because Paul is so elegant in his use of NLP.)
