I've been thinking of sharing my thoughts on PhotoReading for quite a while now. However, it's only recently since I purchased the course two years ago that I can really say that I've gained mastery with the system. Before I purchased the course I was quite skeptical about the whole thing. I mean, my logical mind was saying - hey, this is impossible. However, when I started playing with it I was really getting results beyond rational explanation.
Yet, I would pass through a really tough time of ill health and getting used to medication - which would invariably cut back on my PRing. After that I felt that I had to stick to the 'good' system of adhering to all the procedures. Ironically, this did not improve on my PR technique - in fact it worsened it. Thus, the first point is - be flexible. PR is about playing, not following rules.

As I was reading the advice on this forum I decided to give PR a personal touch and in fact, surprisingly it worked! My style goes like this:

Prepare. State Purpose.
Preview. See contents, index, diagrams, etc... read preface.
Photoread. Restate purpose and positive affirmations. 3-2-1. Smile! PhotoFocus. Page turning. (Chanting makes me quite nervous and I don't use it)
Activate. Mind probing/mapping.
Rapid Read.

Especially for Activation I've found it helpful to challenge my logical mind by starting activation from back to front. I don't know why but this method of backward reading seems to challenge my logical mind more than going through the text sequentially.

Moreover, I tend to photoread better without my glasses on because then I tend to fall into the habit of focusing on the words in the text, and not keeping PhotoFocus.

I hope this will be of help to those out there who are plagued with a logical mind - I've realised that PR works - how and why I don't know.

Good Luck Have FUN PLAY with it! :>

So GordonGT, if you don't chant while turning the pages, what do you do to keep the conscious mind occupied? I notice that when I chant it makes me tense and a little hyper. Maybe you have the answer that I have been looking for.

I don't use chanting either. I found that for me it works best to a) turn the pages as fast as I can, b) concentrate on the relaxes feeling of my body and/or c) concentrate on my breathing. Sometimes I visualize a glow around the book which I inhale, breathing in all the information of the book. On the exhale, I breath energy into the book, (re-)charging it for the next inhale.

Hope this helps,

Jens

Well said Jens. Try also to keep your mind empty while photoreading. It will keep your subconscious free reign to creative responses...

Thanks for the comments. I have only been using the book for 12 days or so and have seen a great improvement, but when I try to adhere to the steps dogmatically I find myself approaching burnout. When I stop forcing myself and just do it to relax and have fun. The stuff really works.
