I write them down AS I preview the book the first time. If you miss any important words you'll pick them up in the mind map.
Some books are wierd. As I previewed "Rich Dad/Poor Dad" I wasn't getting any trigger words at all until I got halfway thru the book and then I got 23 of them in the last half of the book. As mundane as it feels doing it, it helped, even when I didn't feel the word was important. For some reason some words jump out even if I already know what they mean. I still write them down because my hunches tell me they relate to THIS book.
For that book I wrote trigger words on the top 1/3 of a piece of paper and on the bottom 2/3 of it I wrote my purposes, a short summary and mind probe questions and on the other side I put the mind map. I did the mind map as I rapid read and those were the last 2 steps I did.

Almost every single one of those words I was already familiar with but by looking at the whole list you can almost get a sense of what the book is about.
From here I do something different. I write down ONE main purpose, in this case it was "What can I learn from this book so I can get started today on whatever the heck the author is going to talk about?" I know it's vague but I didn't care. I'm going to add more after I PR. Then I PR the book and sleep on it. The next day I had more purposes so I wrote them down along with a summary of what I think the book is about. Then I superread and dip and then write mind probe questions. I don't really have complete understanding of everything yet but here I have a vague feeling of what I want more of. Then I rapid read and at the same time I do the mind map. My rapid reading pace is fast over stories, supporting ideas and "fluff" but I slow down and map the important ideas.
I was amazed at how the trigger words that I wrote down when I knew nothing about the book matched up with the core concepts of the book almost exactly. Makes me not want to skip steps in the future. I'm sure gathering trigger words is something alot of people skip.
