Okay, so I photoread my texts last night. Had the purpose, kept the state, affirmed thoughts, probed the mind. Went to sleep. Now the information that I have released to my mind and body is being processed. In my intial foray into dipping, the book said to scan down the middle of the page and just dip into wherever I felt I should dip and keep going..well I never had any hunches...besides, there is a great deal of detail that if I don't dip enough and maybe read, or rapid read many paragraphs, I'm thinking I may miss something. Long and short of it, what is the most effective way to activate for me now? Lotsa dipping, PRing it several more times (I will anyway!), just looking for some success stories on activation now that 'incubation' has occurred...

Thanks for all the great tips so far! This is a very supportive and helpful board. Seems everyone here is of a like mind, ie. Desire to learn and better one's self.

Franklin_x,

The answer to your question depends on the 'level' of comprehension you desire.

Remember that Rapid reading offers the greatest level of comprehension if you have not quenched your thirst with the other methods of activation.

Franklin_X,

I'll ask the question that I had to ask myself, "Would you know an intuitive signal if it smacked you in the face?" I had no idea what I was looking for with respect to signals. Since I tend toward auditory, I expected to hear a voice yelling "Dip! Dip! Dip!" It turns out that mine come more as physical feelings. Not at all what I would have expected and they are signals I would normally have ignored.

I've mentioned her books before, but Laura Day's books helped me out. She contends that EVERYTHING you notice is a signal from your intuition. Below is an exercise that she recommends for getting in tune with all your possible signals. Consider doing this before starting to Super Read/Dip.

The Body Check:

- What are your five sense perceiving in this moment? Record them on a piece of paper.
- How does your body feel?
- What is your overall mood?
- Which emotion is most prominent for you right now?
- What thoughts or memories float around in your mind?

As you can see from her questions, there are many ways that the signals might filter through.

Good luck.

Who doesn't want 'vast' comprehension of texts for which they will be tested on?? I need as much as possible plain and simple! The other day, a text I'd photoread, I found myself having to read the 'old way' and my 'rapid reading' seemed to have to revert to the EXACT form of reading I'd done before with a small improvement in overall comprehension. Is this activation? I'm following everything, but the results are not impressive. Perhaps for things such as this that have much 'relaxation' as an inherent part of the course, a seminar or coach is MANDATORY. The book says that you can succeed with the book itself...so far, it's not life changing.
And for photoreading the paper, or memos...bottom line is, you need that information immediately most of the time. What good is photoreading a newspaper if you consciously don't know what you've read? A day later, you're activating old news.
I have more texts to be studying, so I'd appreciate some CONCRETE advice. Please also, try to avoid the term "play with it!" Aside from annoying, it's such a copout of a phrase!:-)
Still wanting to succeed at it,

Franklin_X,

You wanted concrete advice, so here it is.

Comprehension and the amount of time it takes to achieve that comprehension will come with time. It's like learning to ride a bicycle, nobody gets it up and going the first time and they have to keep trying until it works.

If you need to learn something important in your life as you are learning to Photoread, don't try to learn that with Photoreading only. Pratice your skills on something that you don't need immediately and read what you need the normal way until you are more confident with Photoreading.

Another reason you shouldn't learn on important things, aside from the possibility that you might fail a test or something like that, is that you don't have to deal with the stress of 'having' to learn something. Tension will kill your ability to relax when trying to Photoread and that will lessen the effects.

I think you might be expecting to much to quick.
Ask yourself if you read a book the normal way how much do you really comprehend. probably on the parts that really interested you. somewhere between 30%-50%
Well with photoreading it allows you to pinpoint those areas very quickly.
Also if you are doing it for a test, the test can't be over every thing in the book.
What i would do is photoread the whole book and then concentrate on the chapters you need for the test. Bye super reading and dipping and then maybe doing it all again. You should at least be able to do it three times faster.
Since this is for a test don't forget to mindmap that should help you tons.

I believe the best way is to use it as much as possible, if you try to draw the line between using PR- the whole mind system with non important material, and grade school reading with important material, you'll never fully integrate the system. The rule of thumb is to give yourself more time in advance. YOu'll find that PR works even if you are a novice.

Dip signals/hunches usually manefest themselves to me as feeling of inadequacy. There is a slight clenching feeling in my throat which moves down to a butterfly effect in my gut.

As Tony Robbins mentioned, feelings are signals from your unconcious mind telling you to take action, to change your state. Knowing that, when ever i feel a sense of inadequacy when reading, as descirbed briefly above, i dip. Its amazing how accurate it is.
