Another thing, the tape is used to stimulate the left and right hemisphere's of the brain.
We all tend to use the left side of our brain which is the analytical/logical side more so than the "creative" right side. One of the purpose of the tape is to balance both hemispheres so that information can flow more readily between the two. It is said that the concious thought is related to the left/logic side and the subconcious is related to the right/creative side. When you photoread your are reading with the subconcious, that's why you have no concious recollection of what you have just photoread. A bridge or super highway must be created to link the two halves together than information will flow smoothly from the subconcious to the concious.
