Just the discussion I was looking for, if a bit old . . . my problem is that I _can't_ diverge my eyes. When my eyes relax, they naturally converge - quite extremely, too. So I guess my question is the same at the one originally posed: Can you get a photofocus by converging your eyes? I can get a view where the text goes out of focus, but the things in the periphery get a bit sharper and I think I can see more of it. Is this right? There is another view I can get where I see the two pages overlapped, but I figure my brain will go nuts trying to get something out of that . . .
PS - to DrGecko - when I was about 14 I had this hideous wallpaper in my bedroom, but when I lay on my back, I could let my eyes relax and cross and the pattern would look like it was about 2 feet from my face instead of 7 feet. It was in perfect focus. With practice, I could put my hand out in front without ruining the effect by focusing on it and my hand would look like it passed _through_ the ceiling, but I could still see it. Very cool.
