Can you give some examples of your technical books?
Try this:
1. Attach an outcome to your purpose statement in Prepare. Determine how acquiring all that technical stuff will bring you to an improved quality of life.
2. Preview the whole book for no more than 8 minutes, write down your trigger words, and pace yourself so that you move through the entire book cover-to-cover in those 8 minutes.
3. Create some mind probing questions with your trigger words, then SuperRead or Skitter & Dip through the entire book in 30-minute sessions. Continue adding trigger words to your mind map.
3. If your book contains a ferocious amount of detail, Preview each chapter for 8 minutes, and make a list of trigger words for each chapter. Then, when you activate, treat each chapter as if it was a book itself. Build comprehension from whole to parts. You'll get a sense of when to shift into Rapid Reading to add all the exhaustive detail you want on your Mind Maps.
Hope this helps!
