Ohh please I know this is not true. I've heard the 60 second radio ads and they do say upto 18 times faster. If it is only 3 times faster then that would mean that you would be reading at about 700 wpm at most with photoreading. Don't most speed reading programs get you up that far?
I haven't seen the tv infomercials so I can't comment on them.
