(Not having done this, but wondering if anyone has)

If you PR a page containing tables (examples: log tables, trig tables, ...), will you be able to recall the value for a specific entry in the table?

For example: If you PR a times table containing two-digit numbers on each axis where the interesction cell is their product, would you recall the product if you thought of the two numbers?

Another example: If you PR a trig table of Sines, would you recall the value if you thought of the angle?

I used PhotoReading back in graduate school to help me with my studies in physics and mathematics and did not find significant improvement in my memorization of tables. It did speed my comprehension of the math and physics, but more in the realm of how to problem solve and how to understand the theory. Anyways, except for a few commonly used logarithms and sine/cosine values, why would you want to memorize them? Most of mathematics and physics is done analytically, with values substituted back in at the end.

from my experience photoreading wasnt intended for plain memorization of text. But, it gives you solid comprehension instead.
you can use it on remembering such stuff but i will use another method because pr would take much more time than this method for such matter. for memorization i use to make associations (visual ofcourse) this allows me to remember everything from a series of long numbers to a list of main points in history. the key is to make the associations as vivid and as funny/ridiculous as possible and connect each one to the next using a story or a funny connection.
try this, it takes little time and it works.
if you want more information about it just ask. i like to use pr on flow charts (in chemistry mostly) by just photoreading it and examining the chart for no more than 5 minutes after it. it gives me veery good comprehension in so little time its almost annoying. as for math what i am using direct learning on the metarial. it does work. still i do my homework thats all. i dont find any need to prepare for tests after that.

basically you have to make associations and be creative with it.
since there are many methods it is preferable that you will tell me whats your purpose and i will tell you the best way to memorize it with associations.

Rharlow,

Raanan is right with mnemonics method (associations), it is one of the best I have found for memorizing anything. You can remember practically anything (even diagrams, if you know how to twist the method). If you could get your hands on 'The Memory Book' by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas it would teach you more than I have the time to write. If you look up this book in amazon.com it will also give you more authors and books related to mnemonics if you prefer something else. Kenneth Higbee's book How Your Memory Works and How to Improve It is also good at explaining the 'why it works' but not as good at showing you how to do it. The books should cost around $10, less at half.com. Loraynes book is very old (which doesn't mean it's not good) so it might also be at your local library.
