Miss Eggy,

I would whole heartedly agree if Ranaan were writing poetry or was trying to find his own style with fiction. However, he is communicating in a public forum. I have appreciated Ranaan's postings and I have received value from them. However, some days I just don't have the energy/attention/patience to decipher the shorthand.

One of the concepts in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) is that the meaning of a communication is the response that it gets. The basic idea is that you are responsible for making sure that people understand what you are trying to say. If there is a failure in communication, it is your fault, not theirs. It isn't because they are stupid or bigoted or unyielding or whatever. It's because you didn't take the time to figure out how best to present your idea.

In a public forum like this, there are people from all walks of life and many nationalities. Since we can't be sure what their background is with English, it is best to write at a level that is most likely to be meaningful for the widest audience. Shorthand is typically useful only after you have attained a certain level of mastery of a subject. (Of course, there are also lazy people like me who just don't want to put that much work into reading the postings here).

Also, a person's writing abilities do tend to have an impact on the credibility they are given. I know that Ranaan has great insights and he also has excellent communication skills. By combining the two, he has so much more to offer the group. In presenting his ideas clearly, he multiplies the value to all of us.

Ranaan, I have benefitted from your posts and I will continue to do so. You always have something to offer that enhances my understanding. I look forward to not having to work so hard to get that from you.

Well said mgrego2!

OK, so there is an argument for doing what you like and not conforming, but then again, if Ranaan wants to continue doing that (sorry for bringing you into this again!) then it's somewhat of a Phyrric victory as people may tire of trying to read the posting and he may not get the variety of useful replies that would help him.

Furthermore, people who may have benefited from Ranaan's postings and insights may not because they can't be bothred trying to read the code. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Micheal Bennett say something on the lines that you can only read and understand what you already know? Sounds good to me!

be calm people. i understood the point. if it makes some pressure on your reading i'll just write normally. i still write with accronyms on every other text box i can find on the internet but for this forum i'll do what's best for everyone, i got the message from the person who started this thread and i dont need any more talking regarding it. it's okay by me, really .

- one last thing:
my name is raanan not ranaan. i would like you to pay some more attention cause i find it a bit annoying .

sincerely,
Raanan Hadar
