I have used the photoreading program for about a week now. Results are starting to emerge.
I am a med student and am currently in my surgery rotation. I utilize all of the techniques to study my surgery texts with. The organization as far as relaxation, purpose, preview,SR&dip,and mind mapping have been wonderful for increasing retention and speed of reading.
The Photofocus and 1-2sec page flip is starting to come around. I have photoflipped and affirmed all my texts as well as review books for national boards. I wish I had this system when I took the MCAT(MedCollegeAdmissionTest). The review books I merely used the photoflip technique like the dictionary exercise.
I know the Photoflip is starting to work because I dreamed of certain fractures and nerve lesions we have not covered in my surgery texts.
I hope that with continued practice that I will be able to totally ebjoy the benefits of the the system and reap its greatest rewards. I fought doubt in the beginning but kept up the positive affirmations. I believe that eventually the technique of photoflip will "click" and I will be able to become an "excellent" photoreader.

Dear Dr. DevRay,

Congratulation on your success. I am finishing my second year in medical school and currently reviewing for the USMLE Step 1. I have been with PhotoReading for a week now, and I am using it in my reviewing. Do you think that's a wise decision, or should I stick with the method I have been using all my life? You know how important the Step 1 exam is and the nature of the reading materials in medical school. I was just hoping if you could share your perspectives on PhotoReading.

I have not taken USMLE Step I myself. However, despite the the time it is taking to utilize the photofocus skill, the other parts of the system are golden as well. The organizatiion of preparing, previewing, SRing,etc. are all valuable techniques in their own way.
Use the whole system, though. IT is not going to hurt! It certainly does not take any extra time! I have faith that the rest will pick up eventually.
When&where are you taking your StepI?

Step 1 is comming up in late June. More likely than not, I will take it in Nashville. I haven't scheduled for a date, yet.
