hi,
i have a few questions:

1. when i've redone the course i've noticed that i used super reading and deeping much more faster than the speed paul teaches you to apply (the exersice when he is counting down as you go down the columns of the page).
-my ultimate question is: can i go faster or not? (am i losing comprehention or avoiding visual cues by doing that?)

2. when i do rapid reading. if i stop subvocalizing the text i start hearing music ...i know it's weird but the only way i can stop the music is to occupy my mind with something....subvocalization for example. any ideas on how can i achieve complete "silence"?

advice will be appreciated on any of the subjects.

sincerely,
Raanan Hadar

Hi Raanan.

I have an idea for you in relation to your question (number 2). I think this is the next best thing to the silence you wanted. Well, if you start hearing music, then why don't you "push into the spin" and put some music on while you are doing it, but not just any music. I have heard from many sources about the positive effects on learning of using slow baroque music, which helps you to get into alpha and, in turn helps you to learn. It's just a thought. I also heard that Mozart was beneficial too, but I am not sure whether it is suitable for getting into alpha. You can also get specially made music for learning. Anyway, I hope that was a little help.

Off the top of my head,

Pachelbel's canon

Winter, second movement from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"

Air on a g string (second movemnet from Bach's third orchestral suite)

are all good choices.

Hi again Raanan. You're welcome for the idea. I hope it works. You can find lots of info on the web about the effects of music. Here is just one site:
http://www.teammanagementsystems.com/tms12-1m.html

I forgot to mention this in my last post, but I noticed something else when I used music at the photoreading stage. Well, you know how you are supposed to chant to the page turning to keep your concious mind occupied? Well, when I use the music I feel balanced and just absorb the music and the slow beat as I am page turning without chanting. Music keeps my concious mind occupied while I get the effects of the relaxation.
