Yes I still recommend printing out magic eye pictures and playing with that. Make allowances for your vision and just take a playful attitude toward it.
As for noticing everything around the book as well, yes, that does happen but the key word is notice. If you don't pay attention to it only means you are probably doing it just not focusing your awareness on it. It isn't really an issue and you are free to keep your awareness on the book. It's what you observe that is happening during the PhotoReading process from time to time.
