The hardest part of PR is activation. I've PRing quite a number of books since last week and i'm little bit confused in using activation methods. There are few such as super read & dipping, skittering, mind probing, postviewing and mind mapping.
Do i have to do it all or just choose one to activate ? I've been using all the activation method alternately and no indication of success. Am i doing it wrongly ?

Now that you have read the book, the next step is to master the basics.

Prepare/Preview/PhotoRead 5-7 books of your own. Then Activate/Rapid Read until each one "gels" and you have full comprehension.

Dana,
How much time did normal/beginner PRer spend for each 5 steps PRing a book let say about 350 to 400 pages.
I know that different persons gives different results but in this case i need specific answer for PREVIEW/PREPARE/PHOTOREAD/ACTIVATE/RAPID READ
I assumed :
PREVIEW - 1 Mins
PREPARE - 15 Mins
PHOTOREAD - 20 Mins
ACTIVATE - 30 Mins
RAPID READ - 30 Mins
its abaout 1 hour 36 min. Am i doing the right thing ?

Prepare: 2-5 minutes, writing down your purpose/outcome statement and tangerine technique

Preview: 8 minutes maximum, writing down all the trigger words you find in bold print, chapter titles, etc, moving through the book cover-to-cover

PhotoRead: 2-5 minutes getting into the accelerated learning state (3-2-1 process), affirming master over the material, photofocus, flip a page per second in a steady rhythm and comfortable pace with the 4-3-2-1 chant, and the closing affirmation statements from page 51.

Activate: 3-5 minutes formulating Mind Probing questions (write these down on your first several books) then SuperReading & Dipping in multiple 30-minute sessions, cycling all of the activation techniques. Building comprehension from "whole-to-parts."

Rapid Reading: spend as many 30-minute sessions you need to gather all of the specific detail you want from anywhere in the book.

As a beginning PhotoReader, you will comprehend in 3 hours what normally would have required 10 hours to comprehend with regular-reading. And, the more you use it, the more proficient you'll become.

Question Dana,

Do you as a developed PR still follow the written steps or is this something which your mind has become better attuned to after you have PR for a while.

Thx

Blk

II've done PREPARE/PREVIEW/PHOTOREAD for a book and when it comes to SUPER READ & DIP, i felt sleepy and cant hardly concerntrate to the pages of the book. I've had this experiences everytime i tried to PR a book.
Is it normal or something's not right ?

Blk Wolf,

The steps become second-nature pretty quickly, as least they did for me. I put PhotoReading to work right away, after taking the seminar with Paul Scheele in Jan.1992. Within a couple of weeks, I had a really good handle on it.

If the information is new to me, or when there's alot of detail, I follow the written steps, absolutely.

Azni,

You may need to catch up on sleep, or try a different time of day to activate. Also, drink plenty of fresh water before you PhotoRead. Hydrate your brain!
