I have had an experience which I hope will benefit others. I had trouble getting into the photofocus state, diverging eyes,"soft" eyes, etc.
What I did just for fun was to place my fingers in front of my pupils(I wear glasses). I tested whether or not my fingers were directly in front by closing each eye alternatively to see if my vision was blocked. After this I slowly moved my fingers laterally to the edge of my glasses. As I did this I focused on each finger. Then I looked at the stereogram and Instantly saw the word "PHOTOREAD" written in a circular pattern. When I photoread I had a big "blip" page in the center of the page. The words were softly out of focus but I believe this is the photofocus state. Try this exercise and please comment on it. Thanks.

Something I have noticed with photofocus.

I found that when I was in photo focus with my glasses on, everything was fuzzy. I experimented with it and took my glasses off. Oh boy, what a shock. All the text that I would normally look at would have been fuzzy was then, very crisp and clear while in photo focus. I am not saying that this will work for everyone but it definaly did for myself.

By me having to wear reading glasses, your experiment is reversed for me. Everything is clear when I photofocus with my reading glasses on, and just the opposite without them. Plus it easier to maintain a wider blip permanently with my glasses versus a narrow one without them.

When I started learning how to PR, I did so with my glasses on. Today and throughout the weekend, I have PR without my glasses. What I have
found, PR without my glasses I see the text way to clearly. Is this clarity do to my brain handling of the data before it better? Are the words
forming clearer in my mind because I am using my whole mind? Is it a trick of the eyes? Are the words fuzzy with my glasses on because the
glasses are actually distorting the free signal of data being sent to my mind? If that is the case, then why couldn't my brain compensate for that
distortion and find the clarity?

With my glasses off while I PR, I have to concentrate on not looking at the words. Sense the PR faze is about not paying attention to the text but
let it absorb into your mind, would it then be better to have the words fuzzy? Pete has indicated that they have taught legally blind people how
to PR.

Ideas?

This has been one of my favorite topic.
Seeing that I'm almost 50 yrs of age and as one ages, their vision is not as youthful either. I have always been far-sighted but my vision close up was great. Now I cannot read without my reading glasses, the words looked smeared or as my sister best explains it, it's like seeing a bunch of ants on a sheet of white paper. But anyway, seeing that reading without my glasses, the words are in a terrible state as far as clarity is concerned and that to me might have a negative impact on photoreading and what my mind might try to interpret what the words are as oppose to what they really are. But if I PR with my reading glasses on, no more smeared words or ants on page, increased clarity, wider blip. So this is the dilemma that I have. To PR with glasses or PR without glasses, that is the question. No firm answer on that. The jury is still out on this one.

Greetings my fellow traveler,

My gut tells me that if someone who is legally blind can use PhotoFocus to get information, that there is more going on behind the scene then if the words are legible or not. Ultimate goal of the PhotoFocus is to get the information from the text into your brain without your conscious filters involved. What I don't know is, what neurological state is the brain in during photofocus.

I have seen posted to this forum, and throughout the PR process is "play with it, find out what works best for you". This is shown as being key to success. This tells me that belief plays a very critical role to success. What do you do when you "play with it"? What you are doing is personalizing the process and the steps. These steps are no longer "Paul's" but yours. The success process is no longer something given to
you, but you are a co-developer in within yourself. This also demonstrates to me that the PR process is not Black and White. If the path to success was that narrow, then encouraging us to "play with it" would serve more to discourage then encourage.

Question for you allenhm:
Is your pursuit to understand the PR process itself or is it more about sight itself? If its sight itself, then I would say that there is ALLOT to learn from the study of Qi and the human body. I believe that failing sight does not have to be inevitable. I have also looked into HGH production
in the body. That is another very interesting study within itself.

Thanks for the insight. Sight is not the question. I manage to PR with and without glasses. It all depends on what mood I'm in.
But it's nice to know what other PR'ers that wear glasses experience and think as far as the pros & cons to wearing or not wearing their glasses during a PR session.
