In the PhotoReading step, when you are flipping a page per second, it matters very little how the page looks consciously. You have an open channel directly to your "other-than-conscious" mind, which absorbs all of the patterns of text in a fraction of a second.
It immediately begins building associations to your existing knowledge base, according to your purpose/outcome statement in the Prepare step, where you determined how you want to be positively impacted by acquiring the knowledge in your book.
