While learning, its best to try your best to stick with the chant. As far as it being good or bad to have your mind active on something else while you PR, I am not honestly sure. My instincts tell me that its more productive to have your mind focusing on the chant which includes "keep the state, see the page". I however wondered if having your mind drift helps to keep your mind from focusing on the text and let the information go in easier.
I would be interested to hear what others take on this is.
